Exclamation Allows us to trade materia for Cracked clusters and mhachi matters

Problem: Inventory space is a huge issue for players. With the variety of materia types that are available to players, they can take up a significant portion of player inventory space. This stresses the servers as well as the players.

Solution: Allow players to trade battle oriented materia Vs and VIs for mhachi matter and cracked clusters respectively. This will increase the value of all materias including main stat materias i.e. (dexterity, intelligence, vitality, strength) for players that wish to sell them or keep them. This would also solve some valuable inventory space issues for players.

This change would be a great quality of life update considering that the player is able to obtain a vast amount of materia from regular play through dungeons - spiritbonding- and other methods.

You're not asking it to be a 1:1 trade are you? Because that would defeat the entire purpose of spirit bonding to get random materia (including the crappy elementals) and essentially make every materia the same price on the MB.
You could always using the system currently in place to convert materia into an inventory saving asset which could later be turned into the materia you desire. Gil. Yep, put it on the MB for gil, then trade that gil for materia when you need it.
Or you could ask for all sources of materia to only reward the universal tradeable items, but that sounds like a lot of extra work to retcon dungeon drops, spiritbinding, and 2.0 beast tribe rewards.

If you don't need the materia, either sell it on the markets or trade it to the goblin that gives you a random materia for trading in 5. This inventory problem you're experiencing is solvable by you. You do NOT need to hold onto all that crap.

I think you both are missing the point of the suggestion. By reducing the amount of space being used by players this will alleviate a larger issue of resources and data for the servers. When player data is transferred to the duty finder the server also takes along their inventory data. By providing a way for players to reduce their inventory space with assets already included in the game there will be less strain overall on the servers as well as the player experience. The issues you bring up are irrelevant to the suggestion, please stay on topic and ignore your personal bias or tendencies that cloud the suggestion for example any economic affect on the game would vary from server to server, day to day therefore it is irrelevant to inventory space.

Your original post reads a lot like "I need more inventory space", but whatever, I'll humor you.

Server stress: Your server stress argument is laughable. We can't possibly know exactly how all this works in the background (it's entirely possible that an empty inventory spot takes up just as much data as one filled with something). Even assuming you were correct, your suggestion would affect so few items, it would have a negligible effect on server stress. I think I have maybe 3 spots in my inventory with materia in it right now. Oh no, that could make my character data maybe 36 bytes larger! Are you seriously carrying all this superfluous materia in your inventory? I think most sane people keep that crap on their retainers, which wouldn't affect the duty finder.

Economic impact: I see no reason why your suggestion would increase the value of any materia, and it would certainly decrease the cost of any sought-after materia. Also, I see no reason why SE would care about the price of materia anyway.

Inventory space: If you're holding onto all this materia, that's a personal problem. I sell and/or gamble mine away.

I have a retainer full of materia. Almost all 175 slots filled with different materia.
    Let's not ask why.

I still think this idea you bring is very silly and unneeded.

What you are suggesting would crash the markets and have a knock-on effect of making the activities that reward the cracked clusters and Mhachi Matters less popular. Good materia is meant to be somewhat hard to get hold of.

We already have solutions in-game, sell valuable materia on the MB and take your worthless materia to Mutamix in Thanalan to see if you can get something useful from it, or simply vendor it.
Getting undesirable materia shouldn't cause inventory issues or server stress because you are not meant to hold onto to it; there is no point in doing so.

Excluding markets affairs free those spaces would solve nothing as would get filled with more items either way.Developers already working on increase inventory and armory chest spaces.Manage own inventory better or pay for additional retainers are main options or directly buy them when u need them.

Again this suggestion isnt a personal problem its looking at one method to assist in dealing with an issue. The more space a player, any player, can save the better overall for the rest of the game. At this point in time the amount of materia available is too great and therefore having a system in place to minimize the amount you collect is welcome.
