It's definitely Savage. The patch notes translated in other languages specify it as Savage. English just forgot to add that little tidbit.

That Savage unlock is exactly what I was hoping for. Now I can make sure everything is BiS, or at least 340, before 4.2 lands.

Can we continue clearing savage for tomes? For example, can I do os1 eight times tomorrow and have 8 tomes to buy two pieces of gear?

If so, this is great news for me. I just got my neo clear three days ago -,-; Can PF him and have a guaranteed weapon after 7 more clears.

It only specifies crystalloids, so I'm a bit nervous.

Well, yes, but you have to have something to wear to enter the next tier (and most of the new 4.2 gear will be behind lockouts). Unless you plan to obtain full crafted gear early on, you'll be starting 4.2 mostly in 4.1 gear.

I was honestly not expecting to see savage open until jan. This is a good surprise!

It's unexpected but I find it odd that they released the lock from savage and not from rabanastre.
I honestly hope they start rethinking the whole 8 man /24 man items since it's a leftover problem from the delay of the first CT raid
