It was also supposed to have a title that would be catchy and hooky enough to start pulling people away from the magnet known as Dragon Quest.This is actually a misnomer and not the whole truth. While that fact is true that is was Squares last gambit, the game was supposed to be called Fighting Fantasy but that name was already copyrighted, so it was called Final Fantasy because Sakaguchi wanted to keep the FF ("efu efu" in Japanese) because it sounded good.
