    PotD, a couple minor changes?

    Being a huge proponent of this type of content, (especially when it comes to solo challenges, I've gotten close to 180 so far) there are a couple things I feel could make life a little easier that I'd hope would be taken into consideration.

    First, safety pomanders. Since I'm fairly sure most people use safety and sight pomanders for the same purpose (navigating floor traps), something I thought of would be to differentiate them by having safety pomanders also remove the chance of having a trapped chest (by mimic, or explosion). Mimics are a huge time waster on higher floors, and bad RNG can screw you if you're doing it solo.

    Second, this is probably more for solo players, if the very first room when you enter (lets say for 150+, so, 151, 161, etc) has a set of 2-4 untrapped gold chests. It could very well be the boost someone needs, but ultimately, still RNG.

    Third, maybe an extra 10 or 15 minutes? No more than that. This I'm not entirely sure of, because as it stands, the time limit almost forces you to use pomanders to make floors shorter, which isn't entirely bad because it adds to the challenge, however a really bad set of floors (mimics, treasure rooms you're forced to go through, etc) can really bleed you dry.

    Finally, perhaps give people the chance to reenter if they failed? I'm thinking one second chance, and have it keep the set of pomanders they had upon death. Allows for reentry without much punishment for a silly mistake on early floors, but is more punishing the further in you get, due to likely having gone through more pomanders.

    Some of these are things I'd like to see, also considering that as far as I know, nobody has gotten the 1-200 solo achievement yet, and with a new DD coming in the future I presume, PotD will likely be largely ignored. Thanks for reading!

    I basically stopped doing potd. I won't solo unless I can bring my chocobo in also. Star Wars the Old Republic had solo content where you could choose one of your companions or 1-3 friends and their companion of choice to accompany you. It was great fun and very popular.

    Potd is all about everyone on the same level in terms of gear, chocobos have level and skill upgrades it wouldn't be fair anymore because it takes months to level them.
    Chocobo will stay in aoe and will get hit by every other crap aswell, I expect them to die often. The extra healing will not save you from 1 shot mechanics or autoattack crits with minitankbuster combos.
    Chocobos stay alive even if you are dead, if you revive you will get aggro immediately again, which you dont want, especially at boss levels.
    Would be even more interesting if chocobos could trigger traps too, lol.

    Ye potd solo needs nerf, but potd group not. And they cant balance without affecting the other one atm, so lets see if they ever change it.

    it would be an additional way to train a chocobo. I just have played this game for about 5 month now and leveling chocobo take soooo long in comparison with leveling your own character...

    Do you guys know if they will raise the level cap of potd to 70 soon?

    I don't think they will ever increase the POTD cap to 70. It's simply designed to be level 60 content and doing so would invalidate a lot of effort people put in. One of the highlights of POTD verses other PVE content is while other content gets easier over time due to higher iLevels and level caps (think of old raids and unsynced clears), POTD stays the same.

    Also @OP I totally agree with the proposed change to Safety! I thought of that one as well because right now Sight is literally better than Safety in every way currently.

    However, I do not think that solo players need any additional chests or anything. But one thing that DOES need to be addressed are CRITICAL HITS (also because they will cause casts to get interrupted. I don't mind abilities cancelling casts but when an autoattack does it's just frustrating). On 181+, fighting mobs with "double-autoattacks" (cleaves, abilities, whatever you want to call them) without steel is insanely dangerous. On 191+, you can literally get one shot if you get crit by an ability. This means that solo clearing 190+ floors, specifically 197-199, depends solely on how many Steel/Rage drops you get, because you can't fight the monsters without steel.

    I mean, look at the damage I took in one ability + autoattack at the same time...

    If the Butterfly Float crit, that would be 9000 * 1.5 = 13500 damage, plus the 5.5K from the autoattack, which is a 1 shot.

    being able to use phoneix downs solo would be nice.As like a fourth pomander of raising sort of thing. its a gaurenteed free chance like you said, but without relying on RNG since you can bring it in with you.


    Other then that i feel like they should balance the jobs better around it, some jobs struggle way too much more than some others. it would need POTD specific tweakin of skills, which would probably be too much work, but it would be nice to see.
    BLM is pretty harsh in there, while RDM can breeze through a goood portion, sustain potions help, but sustain plus vercure is powerful. BLM has manaward but its only every (minute and a half?) drain is more or less useless. and it has the boon of being interuptable alot more often.
    just one example anyway.

    Another change, which is not so minor to me....


    Let me que in at floor 101 after i die FFS. its such a deterrent having to restart from the very beggining. its fluff and does nothing but exist to waste my time, there is no reason to have this in here.

    I have been soloing a lot myself. Made it to 180 for the first time yesterday and got behemoth to 24%. Apparently he can auto attack while casting an aoe.

    Anyway, if we were creating a wishlist here, I’d like to see sustaining potions drop on floors 101+. Shouldn’t drop for people only doing the story floors.

    Max potions heal for practically nothing when you get into the 150s. Maybe a potion that actually heals a decent amount once you start hitting 151+

    Maybe a potion on a separate timer that cures debuffs (not pox).

    Maybe raise the max amount of pomanders you can carry. Maybe a max of 9? No limit would maybe make things too easy.

    Even if all three of these were magically implemented, the solo challenge would still be stupid difficult. I’m still trying to solo, but soloing 171-180 is by far the single most stressful thing I’ve done in the game. Savage is cake in comparison.

    Had another suggestion that might be useful. I think there’s a general consensus that in a group setting, potd should remain as is. And since they wouldn’t be able to touch mobs, maybe they can give a solo buff that can A) Make aetherpools be more reflective of ilvl (increasing up to ilvl 270). Or maybe a buff from floor 100 onwards that would increase healing and damage potency by 10 on all skills (so on floor 161 an attack would do 60 more potency than normal). This wouldn’t affect dots.

    This could make soloing a little bit more doable.
