Not originally, which is why you get so many threads on the matter, I think. Personally the Au Ra females being so tiny compared to the males, is what put me off the race. I get that one race was bound to have an extreme size difference between the genders, but the fact they did that and made them from fierce looking demonesses to anime waifus was swinging the pendulum too far in the other direction imo. Especially if you keep comparing them to dragons, where I can think of several cases where the females were actually bigger.

There is option hide your weapon once you are not using it.

As much as we want them to be more closer to the concept art that they had developed way back, I doubt they're going to change it as it would mean going back and making sure the gear fit right on the new hight/weight. They don't tend to change the races physical appearance much after it's been released. Personally I'd rather just see the horn/face separate, if they were to do anything, imo that was a dumb idea.
