GMs will not accept reports that don't directly involve you. Therefore, they can't accept someone else's report for the blacklisted person's disruptive behavior if it's directed at you, and you can't report it either because you can see it in your chat log.
Would be pretty nice to not be randomly matched with people on your blacklist. Cause...you know, the person (or people) on your blacklist for reasons. I don't see a problem them adding a feature that prevents people, on your blacklist, from joining parties you are in. Made by you or not your PF; Anyone on someone's blacklist shouldn't be able to join a party or be randomly matched with the person on the blacklist. So much inconvenience. :v
Man, I feel like a complete idiot now as until I've read this thread I was sure that this is exactly what Blacklist does - prevent blacklisted players to enter the same DR/PF with me.
Sad times as I used Blacklist solely for this purpose.
Well, thanks people in this thread for clearing things for me...

Those who blacklist a lot or get blacklisted a lot are in the minority, surely, so I don't believe it would have a noticeable impact on queue times for most people. I would rather wait a few seconds or minutes longer for someone not on my blacklist than to run any content with people on my blacklist. If the blacklist blocked players from being in the same instance as those who had originally blacklisted them, well, there are some players out there with full blacklists. That leads to potential issues down the line with regards to DF matching, which could lead to longer queues. So I can see why the blacklist is not designed to prevent random matching.

I think it’s fine as is. Maybe queue times wouldn’t increase, but they probably would at least some of the time. DPS queues can already be over 30 minutes long, I’d rather not wait even longer because I happened to get matched with a couple other people with huge black lists
I also think the function blocking you from seeing the black listed person’s chat makes sense. If you want to continue to see what someone is saying so that you can always be there to report them for it, then don’t black list them. And I’d it did prevent players from being matched with you via duty finder than you still wouldn’t ever see anything they were saying because you wouldn’t be matched with them..... so why still need the ability to see their chat?
And I really can’t see someone entering an instance and smack talking someone else going over too well with others anyway. Friends don’t usually ditch friends because of other jerks saying ridiculous things. Also, if I was potentially a random person in a situation like that, I don’t see myself sitting there thinking “man this guy saying terrible things to or about this other player for no apparent reason seems like a really nice and trustworthy stand up guy, and since the other player isn’t responding that must mean they are trash. I’m going to believe everything he says and add him to my friends list.”

Would it be fair for those who get blacklisted for silly reasons though? If it's 8 person content, everyone who has been blocked by any of those 8 people will be prevented from participation. In Rabanastre that's everyone blocked by any of the 24 participants...Those who blacklist a lot or get blacklisted a lot are in the minority, surely, so I don't believe it would have a noticeable impact on queue times for most people. I know I temporarily blacklist people just because I don't want them joining my PF groups. Doesn't mean I'd like to banish them from any DF runs or other people's PF I may be joining.
The blacklist is fine as is... You're supposed to just blacklist and move on with your play, not dwell over someone talking smack...

Honestly I just want the blacklist to be account wide and to be able to blacklist names even if they aren't online. That alone would be a massive blow to the gil spammers and that's the primary reason I blacklist anyone.
