    Error i2501

I just purchased the game on Amazon a few days ago and registered my account. I'm receiving error i2501 on the Mog Station when trying to use the optional shop or set up a subscription. To be clear, I've not yet made any purchases on my account nor has it asked for any payment info yet, it's just blocked me before I could make a purchase. I was able to add a payment method just now through the settings page, but I still am not able to to get past the error.

    Same

I'm in the exact same boat here. Just bought the game after playing the trial, optional items are not purchasable due to this error.

The error comes up immediately after pressing the "Proceed to Payment" button. No payment information has ever been supplied.

Good Morning, and thank you for posting on the Final Fantasy XIV Technical Support Forums.

While an i2501 error is not a technical error, we may still be able to assist. An i2501 is a general error on the Mogstation, as such it can be difficult to diagnose. It can be caused by an abnormal connection, a public network (Internet cafe, University connection), the use of a VPN or simply too many rapid attempts. The system will try to filter out anything it finds to be "strange."

Generally, waiting 24 hours between attempts can help alleviate the error. If this does not solve the issue, it may be necessary to contact Customer Support.

The Support Center can be contacted via phone, chat or email support through the Square Enix Support Center website. Please use this link to direct you to the Final Fantasy XIV support website:

Please note live service is available Monday through Friday, 9:00 – 18:00, Pacific Time (Excluding holidays).

I am also having the same problem. Not only have I tried with credit cards, but I tried with paypal. Paypal doesn't give me an error, but takes me straight to the confirmation screen without even going to the paypal website to checkout. No payments were made through from my bank or paypal account, and no crystas were added.

I also sent a ticket, and am waiting for a reply.

    Thanks

    Good morning Mooncurser,

You were probably given a 'confirmation' screen because you were redirected back to the Mogstation from PayPal (despite not ever reaching the PayPal site). The Mogstation can't determine what happened on the other site so it assumes everything went smoothly. If you are not being redirected to the PayPal site properly, then there is something blocking the access between you and that site. Generally, we recommend trying out a different web browser (Internet Explorer usually has less issues than, say, Google Chrome). If this does not solve it, try resetting your router by turning it off then back on.

As for the i2501 error, please either wait for your email to be responded to, or contact the Support Center through one of the live channels found in the link provided in the previous post. Unfortunately, we cannot go into too much detail about the error via forum support.

We hope we can be of assistance in helping you enjoy the exciting world of Final Fantasy XIV!
