I bought a mount today world wide mind you, and was going to buy some emotes, BUT when I saw they were ONLY for that one char. even at 7 $ or 7.50, it's totally HIGHWAY ROBBERY! Does anyone else feel the same? I mean playing WOW WHATEVER you buy is acct wide! DO NOT bother telling to go back to WOW, the only thing I miss from wow are my mounts.

Some of the emotes are a bit pricey given their simplicity. Others, however, I feel I can justify the $7 USD for, like the Eastern Dance and Play Dead. The former is extremely elaborate; and the latter is different across each race and gender. Eastern Stretch is probably also worth the $7 because, again, elaborate. I just don't like it, so I didn't buy it.

But Pretty Please, Eastern Bow, and Backflip are a bit pricey for what little they do. I'd suggest waiting for them to go on sale if you want them. They're optional, and they aren't going anywhere. And SE has sales at least twice a year for the Mogstation stuff.

Personally I avoid the cash shop.

Good friends on Jenova gifted me cash shop items. I like the thought better than the items. But the items are cool too.

dont bother buying stormblood or heavensward either. because as you know...ARR is the main game, the expansions are just optional content. no worries

that is incredibly disingenuous to say, expansion packs add a ton of content that in an mmo is the heart of the game.

the items in the mog station are just clothes or emotes that don't affect playing the game at all.

they are not even remotely the same thing. that being said, it's entirely possible to still enjoy arr without any expansions i guess. and i do think $7 is too much for some emotes, considering mog station items used to be a LOT cheaper (look at the prices of stuff from the first halloween event for example). but nobody is required to buy these or should feel pressured to in the same way as buying an expansion.

Nobody should be told, in a p2p mmo, to skip something because its optional. I know im overexaggeratng, paying for an expansion is not the same as an emote, but its in the same vein.


Why should i be paying more for something i already pay for, and why is it ok to skip it, simply because its optional? This game is casual friendly, this game is dress up and glamour friendly, to alot of people, having the best glams is what they play for..collecting minions and mounts is the reason they sub...would you still then say, that the very sole reason, the entire purpose they pay there sub, is optional content?

"optional content" is such a broad term that you simply cannot apply it to anything.


I dont craft at all, i dont gather at all..to me, that is optional content, i wouldnt be sad if they put recipes in the mogstation and the ONLY way to get and craft that recipe was buying it from the mogstation..why? because to me, thats optional content that i wont do. But its not optional content to alot of people. Raids are optional content to casuals who dont raid. should that be behind the mogstation too? its optional afterall. Glamour is a huge part of this game, collecting is a huge part. having everything and achieving everything is a goal of many people.


So no, i would not consider emotes and glamour items and mounts as "optional content" because i do not see anything else as optional content, i see it simply as Content. and it should not be locked behind a paywall.


and just so you know, those halloween things and such are priced like that because they used to be in the game. it wasnt a new emote or a new costume they had to create.

I'm in agreement when it comes to the general price of cash shop exclusive emotes. Some of them are elaborate and that helps the issue, but I still like to wait until they go on sale. For most of those $7 emotes, they'd be more worth the price to me if they were account wide.

The cost of a subscription for an MMO hasn't changed in 20 years. Do you really think our subscriptions, alone, cover operating costs? But if the subscription cost was raised to really reflect the cost of running an MMO, everybody would freak out. There's a reason nearly every single subscription-based MMO has been $14.99 a month, it's what we expect.

Thinking that a shop for something like a piece of glamour or a fancy mount shouldn't exist because you pay a sub is absurd in the modern world. They are not content because they do not impact anything other than your appearance. You are not paying for access to a dungeon or raid. You are not paying for the best weapons or gear in the game. You are paying for a pair of earrings, or the ability to do a different dance than someone else while AFKing next to a gathering node or something. That's not content. That's aesthetics. And if it's really that important for you than yeah, you'll have to pay, because nothing about these vanity items impacts your gameplay at all.

Crafting is an actual activity you do in the game, and it creates items you need in other areas of the game...like gear, food, and potions. So that's still not even remotely the same thing. I think you are misunderstanding what makes the Mog Station items optional - they are nothing but appearance items. You don't play your black mage differently because you're wearing the Far Eastern Beauty's dress. The exceptions to these, of course, are the boosts, but those don't change fundamentally how you play either, since in MMOs, the real game starts at endgame usually.

I know the Halloween items used to be in the game, all the holiday items get added back, but they were still at a cheaper price point than the things that have been added back from other holidays.
