    "Latency" in PvP

Hi, I would like to know if people experience some form of latency in PvP?

The PvP seems extremely unresponsive, everyone keep gliding around and I am often either able to hit (with melee attack) when i'm clearly far from my target or unable to do so when I see myself on my target.
Same goes with debuff such as root which seem to take a whole second before actually freezing the target (I had a few case where they could almost cross a street in Rival Ring)

I do not suffer from that kind of lag on any other game.
My BF and I play side by side so we can see how reactive a game server is.
In every other game we play (mostly Blizzard games), it's nearly instant (0.2 at most)
In FF14, it's staggering how laggy the server seems to be.
For instance we once did some "mount test". Although we"d start running at the same time, we would always have almost SCH dome diameter separating us (i'm not familiar with yalms)

Is there anything we can do to make the game more responsive?

It makes PvP rather painful as I just can't seem to be able to place any silence of stun at the right time (they always finish their cast even if I press at the very beggining of their action). I assume this is because I see their action 0.5-1 sec too late, then counting my reaction time + server response speed they're done with their cast

Yeah, that's the game netcode... It's working as intended and there's nothing they can do to "fix" this.

You got a ping test to your server/datacenter? if you get less than a 100ms you will see more consistent results. But yeah totally agree with you this net-code sucks. By the off-chance you change some settings or ISP, don't test it in the duelling circle. For some odd reason, net-code there is different from an active pvp match.

It's especially great in rival wings when you get hit by area affects 2 seconds after you've moved out of them. Fortunately they only do about 80% of your health, so clearly it's no big deal.

Latency was my nr. 1 issue in PvP in this game only for a while. Back in 2.x, as melee, even if I stood right next to my target my character was apparently too far away too hit them. That was back when your angle towards the target also mattered, so if the target moved at all it ¤%&/ up the whole targeting. Also, fetter ward often failed. I had to adjust to the crappy latency, and somehow made it work, but, still, it never stopped being an issue.

DC was also for a period of time (several months during HW) a big issue to me. Playing as monk, using shoulder tackle into large crowds would DC me like, 1/5 times. Or if I died and re-spawned it would consistently dc me.

However, for the last year or so, latency has improved in my case. Dunno what happened, as I haven't moved and still use the same internet subscription. My isp got better? The server improved its connectivity? I dunno...

If you have latency issues, don't try and interrupt healers with cc. Rather time cc with bursts.

As far as I know this server delay exists to help people who have a bad connection or are just having some lag issues so their performance in PvE will be equal compared to those with really good internet connections.
This system does seem to help a lot in PvE and doesn't bother me at all. In PvP however it has a reverse effect and it's more frustrating than it does any good.

I don't think there's much that SE can do about this.
Would be nice if they could remove this server delay for PvP only.

It helps turning off the battle log, for me atleast. They should put different categories for pvp and pve logs. It's not very useful when we have zerg mechanics with 48 people. Tbh I have better latency in pvp than pve, maybe they already did change.

There's possibly a slash-command to do so but as I'm not at my PC now I can't check. You could macro it onto a hotbar if there is.
