    Sorry...............

If this is not the correct place for this, but I am a new player still. I was wondering re: the event Breaking Brick Mountains event if the fates usually take this long to start. I waited for 20 mins at the excavation site in Thanalan and nothing ever happened so I logged out and got on a diff char and am still waiting..........................

There are a limited number of fates which can be active within a zone at any given time. Thus, if the zone you are in, has a bunch of other fates up, the presence of those fates will prevent the one you want from spawning. Solution, complete the other fates to free up the space. While this will not guarantee that your desired fate will spawn, it increase the spawn rate of it.

Additionally, some fates, are "rare" and have lower spawn rates. The event fates are usually not included in this category. Just providing context for your future in this game when doing things like Relic / Daily Hunts / Beast Tribes and many other activities which involve fates.

Additionally, it will provide you with even more EXP to level up slightly(very slightly) faster.

The event FATE can pop in several different zones. If it's not up in one, you might find it up in another. If it's not up in any, you might need to clear out some unrelated FATEs as Chameleon suggests.

PS - could you please use more meaningful titles for your threads so we can tell which is which at a glance?

Don't feel bad about asking for help, that is exactly what this section is for!

As Chameleon explained above, each zone only allows a certain amount of FATEs to be active at any one time, and some seem to take priority spawning over others (ones that have very high spawn rates tend to do this), meaning other FATEs that have lower spawn rates will tend to be constantly 'overlooked'. The DQX event FATEs don't just spawn in one location, they spawn in numerous zones, so if you're finding they're not spawning in Central Thanalan, try the Central Shroud or Middle La Noscea so I'm sure you'll eventually find one active.

    Either way, welcome to Eorzea!

Personally it seems the FATE in Central Thanalon is bugged, at least on my server. Had people waiting for over an hour and it never popped - and people were actively going around finishing other FATE's to give the event one a chance of appearing.

What I would suggest is wait no more than 30 minutes at any 1 location for the fate. If it hasn't appeared then move to one of the other locations. Also the 2nd followup fate happens right after the 1st, so don't teleport or go away after the 1st finish's or is about to finish - you need to do both for the quest. Oh, and do not worry if your under-level'ed for the fate's - if there are other people there just attack everything you can and do some damage to get credit. And if no-one else there... as long as you use your abilities and any heals you can take on even the boss fight solo - dodge AoE's and stay away from other mobs and you should be able to do it even if your ~3-4 level's too low.

I just did this quest last night. Decided to try the one by Camp Bronze Lake in Upper La Noscea, and the FATE popped within a couple minutes of showing up. But that's just my case. Anyway yeah, like the others said, if it's taking a while you can try beating other FATEs until it comes up (more gil and XP!). I also suggest bringing out your chocobo to help out, if you've unlocked the ability to have it fight with you. Good luck!

I’m glad this thread exists. I also had problems with central Thanalan just not popping, in 2021! Teleported over to camp bronzelake and there it was, with 14 mins left on the clock!
