Japanese Text to go with Japanese Audio in English Version of the game.

So, I've been playing the game in english with Cutscene Audio in Japanese, and while I'm not fluent in Japanese, I know enough to realize it's not an accurate translation. Would it be possible to somehow get an option to get proper translations for what's being said in Japanese rather than the English lines masquerading as translations? I know that in some cases they're saying more than what's put in front of you, and in other cases, much less.

Word for word translations won't work between Japanese and English. Some Japanese words are written the same but can have two different meanings depending how they are said and the syntax of Japanese is completely different than English is. There are also some things that can only be expressed in Japanese that when directly translating to English, won't make any sense due to cultural differences.

While that's certainly true, it's still possible to get a more accurate translation than what's shown now - as what's shown right now isn't a translation, it's the subtitles for the English voice acting.

No different than when I watch anime and it come with 2 english subtitles - one for English Voice, one for Japanese voice. Neither will be 100% accurate, but the second one is more accurate than the first.

This has been pointed out and they acknowledged the disparity between languages. They made much better strides today's script unity in HW and beyond.
Though not 100% as I'm sure you're aware.

The Japanese script and text is actually rather mundane. The English version takes stylistic liberties with the old-timey feel and anachronisms. If you got accurate subtitles for the Japanese script you'd see it be much closer to plain, modern English in feel compared to what we're used to seeing. I'd like to have the option of having both- the usual translation and the more accurate one together- but it's too much work for them to do when one version suffices. It also helps keep the base cohesive so they aren't possibly seeing two different interpretations of the same event. Imagine what would have happened if there had been an "accurate" English translation of Haurchefaunt's characterization...

I'm all for seeing the death of script transliterations being masqueraded as accurate subtitles but that's been a problem since anime started being brought over in the '80s. It won't be going away.

This is my fondest wish in terms of 'extra features' I'd like to see added to the game (I'm ashamed to say I'd even be willing to pay for it.)

As much as I do like the overall 'flavor' of the English translation, the inaccuracies drive me up the wall, so I'd give it up if it meant getting to see the version of the game that more closely matches what players in other languages are seeing, especially since I'm still a few years of study off from being able to replay the game with full Japanese text.
