Missing Quest Item

While trying to complete "A relic reborn(Thyrus)" for my WHM I went to Outer La Noscea to get the quest item "a timeworn thyrus." After which I entered a few dungeon runs. When complete with the dungeon runs I went to Foundation to materia enhance the item as the task bar on the right of my screen reads "Deliver a materia-enhanced madman's whispering rod to Gerolt." But the item was not in my Armory as my weapons slots were full and I found that it was not in my inventory either.

I checked my journal and the journal's latest update reads "You have obtained the timeworn Thyrus. Make your way back to Hyrstmill and present to relic to Gerolt."

When I went to Gerolt, I could not complete the quest. I returned to U'Ghamaro Mines to see if maybe I failed to actually take the item but the quest marker was no longer there and the location no longer held an actionable item to take the relic weapon from.

I imagine that the "madman's whispering rod" is what the "timeworn Thyrus" becomes once it is materia enhanced but it still remains that I have neither the Thyrus NOR the whispering rod on my character to complete the quest and cannot retrieve it in any way.

I submitted in game via Ask A Question and was referred to the forums. HELP! Thanks!

the whispering rod you have to buy from the marketboard or craft yourself and then meld in the 2 specific materia yourself. The melding you can do at a melding NPC.
Its no bug here really
