    Can We Get Different Casting Motions Per Magic School?

    I dislike that the mages cast Conjury And Thaumaturgy the same way. In XI Black Magic, White Magic, Blue Magic, and summoning had its own casting motions. Different casting motions for each magic type would be welcomed with open arms

    Also, I dislike how the mages look melowed out casting as if they are not in a battle and just are moving their hands softly to cast. I would like the casting mostions to be more Epic, as if they are trying lol.

    Lastly, I think everyone should be able to regain HP and MP as if their weapons were away if they are not engaged in combat. Just because your weapon is out, doesn't mean your in combat, and should still regain hp and mp. I wanna cast magic with my staff in my hand, and look cool doing it, not like a lazy person .

    I'd also prefer if there were unique casting animations for things like stoneskin -- so other healers could appropriately make decisions instead of double or triple casting the same spell on the party in ~3 seconds.

    I agree 100% Each mage class should have its own animation. Melee and tank should have a uniform casting animation that isn't as refined (illustrated in its animation) as mages.

    I agree with this, and with the point that it's hard to tell what someone's casting so there's often overlap. Alternatively, perhaps to alleviate that without requiring alternate animations etc for some spells (which would take a -lot- of work) they could potentially add a small casting bar or spell name box (similar to FFXIII's boxes that appear when spells are cast) that appears over the head of the character temporarily to show what they're using. I'm not sure how much strain that would put on the servers, however.

    Another similar suggestion I'd have would be that for single target spells, the caster fires a small orb at the target relevant to the spell type (white for healing etc) that indicates what they're doing in an obvious way without looking at the chat log, and would help healers to see who's being cured and what they need to do.

    Again, not sure how reasonable it is to expect that being as with FFXIV's coding (FFXI was the same) spells and abilities never actually move from you to the target, I.e. you don't shoot an arrow that flies from you to the enemy like other MMOs, you just do an animation and then the enemy performs a corresponding animation.

    I don't really agree with the regeneration while weapon is out. Something based on whether you're in combat or not alone just isn't appealing to me.

    They already had another thread for this but I think it got lost away in the dozens of pages of threads for these forums.

    I just hope the animations now are a "just for now" type of thing and that they will get edited at a later time :\

    I don't think this is something which needs to be fixed any time soon, there are much more important things that take priority.

    TBH I'm in the mind that I don't really pay much attention to my casting animation, I'm more concerned about the actual effect of the spell.

    I will agree with the post above that it is sometimes hard to tell what the other CNJ is casting so sometimes you both use Protect or Shell, worse offender is raise because it takes so long to cast. (in the case of Raise just changing the colour would be enough)

    Yeah this game is in serious need of new animations especially for weapon skills...

    I wonder if the new animations are being designed around the 2.0's new engine and thats why we haven't seen anything.

    Which brings me to another question, why haven't we seen anything else out of 2.0's progress other then silly novelty mounts and the un-involved jumping mechanics.

    I love OP idea! Also iirc yoshi said in an interview that he'd be fixing animations in 1.21 making them more lively and such. I'm not 100% sure though.
