Feast Differences between NA and JP

Not sure if this has been brought up or highlighted, but the feast pvp meta is vastly different on JP servers. I would say this as a participant on season 5 Elemental and one who managed to secure a spot in the top 100 that some consideration should be given to how its done on JP. Twitch streamer Bountiful harvest and panke 0219 on youtube (who organises a cup/tourney on jp) are great ones to find video examples.

On JP, everything revolves around the countdown of 5 (initiated by the melee dps) using the markers and macro. During countdown numerous things can occur, tanks prepare to stun, dps ready their hardest hitting burst within the shortest GCD span and depending on the target, the tanks/dps/healers adjust their cc,abilities to fit the situation. Similarly, the opponents would be trying to perform the same and you have to rely on the defensive skill and awareness of the players to prevent a death (e.g. predict an enemy burst, stun the melee dps/ use quick target macros etc). I find the value lies more on the team rather than the individual here compared to what I have heard on NA.

I maybe wrong about how things work and perhaps high level play on NA is similar, could someone please share their exp?

You may find Burst Macros only on matches where veterans are, not all veterans, they're not even that many, let's just say the burst countdown is having its use only now in EU/NA, it was suggested to be used not long time ago.

It's interesting how in JP they have some sort of agreements that people follow and respect, I'll find it almost impossible to happen in EU/NA.

I'm seeing this a lot more on NA servers - the DPS will do the quick chat "Everybody attack!" and then do a countdown on someone of the opposing team. It's very helpful.

I'd also like to point out the agressive community that lives in EU, I don't know anything of JP, and I know NA is in a pretty "good-terms" between players, in EU you are likely getting trashtalked whether you're a good or bad player, you're a new or old, or if you are a kind or mean player, it doesn't matter, in EU you will be infected by this virus. I hope other DCs are not like this.

Is offense/defense kit use any different on JP datacenters? I was under the impression it was the norm for melee to grab the offense kit and ranged to grab the defense kit (is that still the case?), but lately I've been seeing melee dps grab both, especially on maps like Lichenweed where they spawn close together.

What's the deal with that? I guess I can see an argument for it - making it less attractive to pressure the person with the offense kit buff, at the cost of making the ranged an easy target. I'm open to different strategies, as long as they know what they're doing. Just wondering if there has been a shift in the way these kits are used.

It is more of a relict of the old pvp system that carried for some reason over into the new system. The only difference nowadays between a melee and a range dps is the health pool which is around 1000 health less on range damage dealer. There is no more inherent damage modifier system which for example many tanks think still exists, and expect healer to heal them if they cover the burst without shield oath. Tanks die as fast as anybody else they just have 2-3k more health lol.

So... our meta is often...attack melee at the start, so to pick defensive buff as melee isn't that wrong. Range dd can generally kite way better, so they are often not taking so much damage anyway, if you are not a turret range dd in melee range.
The buffs only stay 3min, in that time a healer and a melee has to die before people tend to switch to the range dps, often they get never attacked during the full duration of the buff, so its a total waste.
The only expectation would probably be blackmage, because of the old pvp system where you had to stay on blackmage and interrupt him every 5seconds and people still think that it is the same.., so they focus the blm at start.
But it doesn't mean that a range dd without defensive buff is an "easy target".

    And on the topic
If you watched JP PvP streams a bit, you will notice that they always say Hello and always say good match at the end no matter how shitty they play. JP Players are a bit more hardcore orientated I guess, so they don't jump in content where they have no clue what they are supposed to do. In EU players think they are gods, and if they lose more matches than win, it must have been wintrader or cheater.

I'm not sure this is a JP thing as opposed to a "only single strategy that works" thing. It's not like there is any other option that doesn't end up as a stalemate over time. And come on, JP are just as bad as anyone else, you just don't see it as much due to language and cultural barriers, and the tendency for JP to avoid direct conflict.

I'm new to rank Feast and just starting out and don't wanna look like a total scrub. Is there any sort of strat or meta I should follow that most people expect to be the norm of things? The last thing I wanna do is appear on some random streamer's s*** list who I don't even know exists. lol
