    They're alike because SE added them both as mounts.

    Not that you were grinding on Gobbues before but there is absolutely nothing in the lore to preclude SE from adding Chocobo enemies.
    In fact there is a precedence for encountering wild Chocobos you have to tame in Final Fantasy. FFVII had this as a prominent feature and a major subquest.
