You bring real life situations into this conversation where you stated that "you want to believe this is a different world". Why?1. i saw the uldahn cutscene. that makes sense to tame it, not to ride it. because after taming they wouldn't use them for other purposes? In real life they used to tame feral horses and re-purpose them for plenty of issues. It doesn't make sense that people ride horses?
5. and lastly. its not changing my immersion, its common sense, with bunny hopping, people dont do that in the real world. thats not me, thats common knowledge. swimming i dont have as much of a problem with. and i wouldnt have as much of a problem with the mounts but everyone is gonna be on some mount at all times, thats just not believable. its clear that it is a game, but a good RPG game designer does his best to cover that up

Think about that for a second:
"Believing it's another world" means the world you're experiencing feels like an actual world -- Clearly it would be a different world from our earth in a logical stand point, but the reason people like stories like Lord of the Rings, Harry Potter and (insert billions of disney stuff) is because even though it's fiction, it's like a 'real world'.

The dividing line on these mounts falls between those who have been long time fans of the FF series and want to see this game be more 'Final Fantasy', and those who are just fans of MMOs in general, and want to their favorite features from other MMOs brought into this one.
Those of us who are long time FF fans feel that the game needs to get the core concepts right before it should attempt any radical changes to things. And when it does add new things, there needs to be a proper explanation and integration into the world in order to maintain the quality that the series has generally had. Artistic integrity, Good Storylines, and faithfulness to the established mythos of the franchise are very important to us.
Those who are general MMO fans, likely could care less about any of what I just wrote and likely want to be entertained by having large volumes of relatively easy endgame content with high drop-rates of flashy trinkets and e-peen enhancement items.
It's a divide that's nearly impossible to bridge with some people. You can't argue about it because they don't understand (or care) where you are coming from.
The big problem is that I'm starting to worry about which side Yoshi-P is on now. The OTT Ifrit weapon designs where the first warning sign, the crowns and moogle weapons were second, now these ridiculous mounts...
You give away tons of this flashy crap now for nothing and the game has nowhere to grow without the entire player base looking like a Mardi Gras parade. It's extremely short sighted.

If only they actually didn't try to make the same mistake they did with XI and number it. This game in general is blasphemous to any true FF fans trying to say it deserves a number. The dividing line on these mounts falls between those who have been long time fans of the FF series and want to see this game be more 'Final Fantasy', and those who are just fans of MMOs in general, and want to their favorite features from other MMOs brought into this one.

Not gonna lie I do enjoy my MMOs and that I believe this game could do with some features from others just to make the little annoyances easier. Even the smallest thing such as the numbers make this incapable of being an FF game. At level 50 i should be doing around 2k a regular hit but hey let's not use other FF games to make a point it normally gets overlooked.

Wait wait wait wait wait... you got to be kdding me. But the Ifrit weapons are too flashy? If your a long time fan of Final Fantasy games, you would know that the series has had it's share of flashy and over the top weapons. Look at cloud. I've never played whatever game he's been in but he has that omg humerously huge sword. How is that possible.
And about mounts being ridiculous.... We've fought huge monsters on flying ships that we don't get blown off of and whatnot, but riding on top of a possibly tamed gobbue is so wrong?
And having a crown that rewards you for getting all of a certain class to 50, or having good luck on melding materia is so bad. But looking at the design of the armors in the next patch, or the look of past characters. One that blows me away is the garlean empire's helmets... they look like some crazy darth vader equipment, yet we complain about the crowns.
I think your priorities are wrong if all that effects you that much and your a long Final Fantasy fan.

I think you misunderstood.Wait wait wait wait wait... you got to be kdding me. I respect you and all..

When the ifrit weapons were first previewed, I made the same comment I did here. That is, Why this early?
There is nothing wrong with the weapons themselves, but if this is how gaudy stuff looks at lvl 50, what will things look like at level 70, 90, or 100? MMOs need a proper path for growth in the design of weapons as well as their power to ensure that the gear players wear doesn't look completely insane long before they ever hit the final level cap. The Ifrit weapons and now the crowns seemed to shortcut this.
Are you referencing a character from the game designer who is largely believed responsible for the sorry state of the FF franchise today?

Honestly, now they are more trinkets for people that don't do materia and what not since you can make weapons that are better. And for the gobbue mounts.. I'm sure this is one of the things they are rewarding us with for staying to pay and play.I think you misunderstood.

Its more how and when they are added that causes me alarm.
It's more about them being there to say "Hey I've dont this" not "Hey I'm so much more powerful than you are".
And quit moving so far into the future. We haven't even had our first raise to cap yet... give it time.

Stop right there, I have been a FF fanboi since before I entered kindergarten. The only video game I played for about 5 yrs of my life was FFIV. And, I am completely open to change. As ar as we know, Eorzea =\= Vana'diel. So, there could be a perfectly legit reason as to why Gobbue's are mountable. The dividing line on these mounts falls between those who have been long time fans of the FF series and want to see this game be more 'Final Fantasy', and those who are just fans of MMOs in general, and want to their favorite features from other MMOs brought into this one.

Now, as for the Ul'dah opening, I wouldn't really use that as a reference since, they were using that magic ring to control it and the Gobbue's we are getting don't.
There will be lore that will justify this, we just have to wait for it.

Sorry but I'm a long time FF fan, Ive been playing these games since i was a kid. And yes, they've put out some srsly whack-a-doodle, "WTF?" shit over the years and sometimes I get it, sometimes I dont. The one thing I have learned with FF games is to never expect the same game twice. I say just let go and let Gobbue. The dividing line on these mounts falls between those who have been long time fans of the FF series and want to see this game be more 'Final Fantasy', and those who are just fans of MMOs in general, and want to their favorite features from other MMOs brought into this one.
