Yah it's blockable but not evade-able, I've tried tanking as PGL with +100 evasion on gear, only evasions I ever got in a few runs was only during 1st 15% and nails phase and even that was almost only when featherfoot >.< Overall, while PGL can tank it, unfortunately isn't effective at all since you take much more dmg than others, even with FoE up, and to do good dmg combos you would need to move to the side and well, a tank moving to the side in ifrit can cause all sorts of problems... So is better to use a MRD or GLA instead. =( PGL can do really well as DD on ifrit anyway since that's what we are now, full out DDs =/

    Tried yesterday...
Pugilist as DD from mr. Ifrit
2nd in DPS (more problem, the tank was the first time and hate always super-red, but not blinking )
Healing on me only 2 or 3 times, when i'll take some comfindence with movement...
Evasion 0 during the fight, even with Featherfoot in front of Ifrit (after first 15%)
Bloodbath+Second Wind FTW, from behind i'll hit ifrit for 541 (Crit) with Howling Fist + 100 (more or less) of Demolish + 100 (more or less) Pounce.....

One thing is sure.... Pugilist from ifrit is the maximum level of funny-bunny of all times :Q_____ \o/

(From moogle i'll tried as PGL and tanking the mooglarauder best of the GLA *__* )

Who don't love Pugilist will defeat from his fury! muahahah o/

As a huge fan of Pgl I've tanked Ifrit successfully and yes, you can evade the swipes but it's rare. Alpine Warjacket makes it a bit easier though.

I've also done Pgl DD on Ifrit and it works great, just stack on tank and stick with that rear combo. Just a few things, can't do a full combo between eruptions especially after hellfire. Keep out of sear range and rely on throwing weapons and invigorate for TP when your HP gets below half. Also let the tank build plenty of hate before you go in otherwise 2 combos later you're gonna be tanking. xD

Oh and don't use Fists of Fire unless you wanna heal him, lol.

I don't know if it's consistent or not but I was actually dealing more damage if I popped Fists of Earth and it's fairly easy to manage if you aren't constantly eating sears.

When I took PGL in opened with the Aura Pulse combo for slow but I pretty much dropped that altogether after the first phase. It's nice to be able to use Simian there too and I saved Quelling Strike for Howling Fist. While it's not as stellar, you can just freely pop Simian when you get a chance to push out some damage. Blindside + Blood for Blood, Howling Fist was almost pushing 700 (685). I couldn't break it though =|

ON the FoF cure note - isn't it kinda weird that Fists of Fire cures him but the additional effect on his weapons don't?

Yeah i tought that too, maybe because theres not much variety of primal weapons doesnt apply, once shiva is out there they might change that.

Actually I remember some offhand comment either in game or on lodestone about Ifrit's flames piercing fire resistance (since enough fire resistance would theoretically make him a cakewalk, I imagine). Since the weapons are made of his horns/claws it would be safe to assume that their flames also ignore fire resistance.

I never even thought of that but it makes sense. Thanks

I'm still trying to figure out how to maximize my dmg potential on Ifrit. I always seem to fall behind the LNCs in my shell and I like to believe I'm pretty well geared (With them being more so for that class).

While reading this, and i want to say now i havent had a ifrit fight yet, andi sooo cant wait to try, but as someone that has lvled PGL to 50 mostly solo and at least 20 levels with the new combo system, it would seem to me that the DD PGL would be better, its hardest attack combo starts in the rear, so tanking would take one of the best PGL combos out of the game unless you have a hate puller, if that is even possible in FFXIV, i remember it being a pain in FFXI, so just curious, because PGL is my only class as 50 and i want to dive into some of the primal fights^^
