Returning player, looking to try Melee DPS

Drg is a pretty terrible job imo.

I main this job in ARR and i forced myself to play it for half of heavensward because i thought the issue was with me. but no, the job is just a mess to play, so much so that its not even fun anymore.
I leveled the job to 70 and i learned the rotation out of respect for the job i played for years and somehow SB drg is even worse than HW drg.
Its also (what i would consider) the most "challenging" melee job to pick up and play.


Sam is the easiest melee, by far, if you want a job you can pick up and be decent at within a short amount of time (a week max of learning) sam is the job for you.
Monk is easy once u get positionals muscle memoried. keeping up GL3 is a non issue these days and the times u lose it, chances are anyone would be losing it (boss jumps too long etc)
Nin isnt the most advanced, but i felt like its more pressing to be good at, its alot more simple in SB but it can trip you up if you arent using your guage right and doing the trick window proper.
Drg is explained above.

Imo, skip DRG, it might be fun to you, who knows, but its definantly going to take more of a learning curve.


This is a list based on what i think are the jobs that take the longest to be passable at, not a list determining which job is better, more fun or does more dmg

nothing is "difficult" about drg, but comparing it to the other melees, it feels like the most specific melee job to get the hang of

Which again, isnt a complaint or a negative against it (even if i hate the job). im just saying what i think would be the hardest for someone new to melee to pick up and do good at within a reasonable time frame
