    The lore can be twisted for Geomancer to be a Shield Healer easily or switch between them like Astro. Honestly, its whatever the devs want it to be.

    The barriers were to keep Garleans out. I would expect the Geomancer coded monsters to heal in there if they were supposed to be healers honestly.
