    still crashes

I have tried all that you have suggested and am currently using a card driver from January of last year and it still crashes. I cannot even log into a character using DX9 it crashes during the login screen. Currently this is the only game that is doing this that I have on my system. (I have 9 others)

also I don't know if this has anything to do with my DX11 problem but Rowena is not in Mordhona so I can complete the quest 'A Self-improving Man'

    Launcher not calling for files

ok I have traced a problem in the launcher --it is not calling for either the DX9 or the DX11 .exe files and I suspect that is what is causing the problems with numerous people in the game. I just reviewed the AMD forums and there are a lot of people having the same problem as I am and they are having the problems with only this game so there is definitely something wrong with this system. For some reason even though you can log onto game sometimes --normally after a complete system reboot--- the game will loose the DX calls when moving from zone to zone. Please fix this!!!

I had similar problem and fixed it reinstalling the game and setting compatibility mode with windows 8 in the game .exe (not in the launcher), its a file called ffxiv_dx11.exe located in game subfolder.

    Hope this helps..

I have already reinstalled the game but it didn't work, I tried setting compatibility mode to ffxiv_dx11.exe to both W7 and then W8, still doesn't work... looks like I'm doomed to play with DX9 forever...

    Having the same issue now.
i have the latest Windows 10 64bit official copy etc etc, fully updated.

I have researched through the net and tried numerous suggestions. Updated drivers, reinstalled etc etc.

Result - exactly the same as before: Fatal Error when trying to start the game in dx11, but runs ok with dx9.

Is there an official solution to this from SE anywhere?

    Hello Aedria,

I am very sorry you are still experiencing this issue. Have you tried running the launcher in Administrator mode or Compatibility mode? You also can try reverting back to an older graphics card driver, not just reinstalling them.

I hope this can help! Thank you for playing Final Fantasy XIV!

Good Afternoon, and thank you for posting on the Final Fantasy XIV Technical Support Forums.

To everyone who has been having the DirectX 11 crash issue, we are escalating this problem to the appropriate department, which involves moving all of your threads to the 'Bug Report' forum. We hope we can find a solution to this issue through this method.

Please keep trying to resolve this issue with some of the following suggestions:

    - Updating graphics card drivers/reverting to older drivers if completely up to date
    - Reinstalling game
    - Disabling background application and overlays (Steam overlay, Geforce Experience, etc.)
    - Switching to DirectX 9
    - Rolling back Windows update
    - Disabling Game Mode on Windows 10
    - Running as administrator and using compatibility mode

If one of these suggestions alleviates your problem, even if only temporarily, stick with those settings until we are able to find a more permanent solution.

Thank you for your patience and we hope we can find a quick remedy so you can all enjoy the exciting world of Final Fantasy XIV!
