I feel like I hardly ever went to Ishgard itself once I left CWH. The story was centered around its politics, but certainly nothing aesthetic-wise. We spent all of it in Sharlayan areas or in Azys Lla. Meanwhile this expansion always has us in one of the eastern themed areas, and we've gotten tons of glamour and furniture based on it. Ala Mhigo is getting the Ishgard treatment too.

I think it's safe to say that adding ishgardian housing won't solve any kind of housing crisis whether it's it be lore or gameplay
In all seriousness though, people aren't homeless due to a shortage of houses, people are homeless due to a shortage of money
As much as I would love an Ishgard themed ward, either stone castles in the snow, or log cabins in the snow, I understand if that's not a priority any more. To be honest, the part I would be most excited about is the prospect of an interior theme with the windows, pillars, trim, and stairs that would be compatible with an Ishgardian look.
I've done a lot of decorating in my Goblet plot trying to pretend my house is in Ishgard (masonwork walls/floors, etc) but the yellow-toned wood and pillars clash horribly. I would kill for a stone castle type trim/pillar setup (or the ability to remove the trim and pillars altogether, but that's another thread) and just let us choose the trim/pillar setup out of Goblet/Mist/Lavender/Shirogane/Ishgard at will.
If I can pretend inside my house convincingly, I'd be 99% satisfied!
This is wild. The game literally throws millions of Gil at players, unless they either overspend on glams /minions or never actively TRY to make Gil. Even if a player doesn't ever gather, or craft, you should make 10m in your first few months of player super casual, just from MSQ and selling your dungeon drops/GC items

A super casual player isn't going to make that much gil in a few months when they're new to the game unless they're already very familiar with how MMORPGs tend to work or they make wealth accumulation the focus of their game play over combat content. They don't play enough hours in the week and they don't understand the game systems/item values well enough. This is wild. It's easy when you know what to do. It's far harder when you're still trying to figure the game out.
Even as a player who continuously play the game for 3-4 months, I remembered I made milions of gils but I don't think I actually make 10 million gils (no crafting nor selling, just duties). But even if I could stack enough gils to buy a house and still have spare gils to spend on other stuffs, the big problem remains on the fact that no houses are available: either a lot of people already purchased them or a big social FC already bought the whole plot (some people actually confirmed this and I find them to be reasonable - One house (L/M/S) for the FC, the rest are for the members with help of others). I am from Ultros and I hardly find any houses available (only 1-2 small houses available to buy at one zone, and some zones don't even have plots to buy). Apartments are a "budget" solution to solve the housing shortage, but anyone can agree that, who doesn't want a house for their own?
I actually made a new character in a new preferred world (Atomos) in Japanese DB, and I had also made a few temporarily characters in other worlds there. Even with the crowdest ones (I'm not counting Tonberry or any servers occupied with a lot of English speakers), there are actually a lot of plots not owned, and I had came across some large plots un-owned, comparing to that of NA & EU DBs (presumably). I don't even see any PFs mentioning plot-reselling, not even /say and /shout to advertise stuffs like in NA worlds. I definitely would stay there and buy a house without worrying of house shortage while I desperate to go around 4 main cities looking for plots just to see it purchased a few hours later.
