Why Charge Teleport Fee to FC/Personal House?

I seem to vaguely recall some early side quest or something that explained it as basically a toll booth system, pays for the security and whatnot, keeps folks from just zipping around under the radar.

Any explanation is going to be flimsy, so that's about as good as you'll get without them outright admitting there's no real mint and gil is effectively worthless.

Im more interested in the fact that when you teleport money just is instantly taken out of your on hand money. Like what has that kinda of power and who's collecting it and it's not being collected where does it go?

The canonical explanation is that you hand your money over to folks that hang out next to the aetherytes, but they don't actually show this because it would be a waste of player's time.
