Why Charge Teleport Fee to FC/Personal House?

Mind you I totally get why you would charge teleportation fees elsewhere. Exploration, gathering, crafting, all sorts of things.

But housing? There's no gil-accruing benefit to an FC or personal house teleport. If anything, it penalizes people for visiting their home.

This has never been explained since 2013, so can we please have the gil cost be 0?

But porting to a house gets usually gets you into a general area for much cheaper than you'd be able to get there otherwise, so it sort of makes sense that it's not completely free.

just because your house has an aetheryte doesn't mean you can use the whole aethernet for free.
it's not that much different from the real world. even when your house has a driveway, driving home with your car still costs you money. especially road taxes in this comparsion.

and however, we have a horrible inflation, so every gil sink is a good gilsink.

It's such a small cost I don't see a big need to make it 0, I do like that I can teleport to kugane for 249 instead of 999 because of my FC house

The cost personally is fine, gil isn't that hard to come by.

This game needs more Gil sinks, not less

There'll never be enough gil sinks. Simply because of the number of sources of gil and the ease of getting it...

Even If you teleport all over the place for the msq (and im talking real lazy mode like teleporting back to a crystal even though im still in the same zone and less a minute away) you still end up in profit. You earn more til than you can possibly spend

I seem to vaguely recall some early side quest or something that explained it as basically a toll booth system, pays for the security and whatnot, keeps folks from just zipping around under the radar.

Any explanation is going to be flimsy, so that's about as good as you'll get without them outright admitting there's no real mint and gil is effectively worthless.

Unless said fee is 999...you have little grounds to really complain about it.

That and people use housing as a shortcut to cheapen teleportation fees. For it to be consistently cheap - I like having my shortcut to Kugane cut down dramatically in terms of cost.
And yet further more - gil really is easy to come by...seriously. (legitimately mind you)
