    Bard sheet notes

Okay...I'm going to have to admit it...this perform action is something I really like a lot. Unfortunately, I'm on PS4, don't exactly have the space to set up with a mouse, and there are way too many notes to use my hotbars for (I only have 1 1/2 free hotbars). I can experiment with sounds to try an make something, which can be time-consuming for someone who doesn't understand music notes. What kind of sheet music should I look for that will make learning how to perform easier? For Guitars? Lutes?

If you don't read music yet, look at sheets for single voice instruments like flute or clarinet. If you look at sheets for polyphonic instruments like lutes and pianos, you'll have to filter out all the extra notes to get to the melody, or collapse the whole score into a single line. The more notes the instrument can sound at once, the more notes you might possibly have to read at once; and deciding which notes are important, which ones form a singable line, and such will require some experience before you start processing them on your own.

If you know nothing about notes, you'll have a rough time of sheet music. Experimenting is probably pretty quick in the short term if you have the ear for it.

Another quick-ish possibility be learning which notes abilities correspond with the keys on a piano, then watching a YouTube video of synthesia playing a simplified version of your song. (quickier than learning and getting comfortable with sheet music in the short term)

If you just want to goof around playing notes and not have it sound out of tune, you could throw something like this on to a bar:
    G#-1 C Eb G# C+1 Eb+1 G#+1
    And spam away randomly.

I like to play guitar as a hobby, but truthfully… I can’t read sheet music myself, but i can read guitar tabs which use strings and fret positions instead. So, a lot of the time, i’m using that and figuring out the rhythm by playing it by ear.

The same applies for the Bard Performance as well. I look up the song i’m interested in playing within the game’s OST, try to find the base note and figuring it out from there. This will result in me rewinding the song over and over before figuring out which notes they used.

I’ve used this method for the “Kojin of the Blue / Tamamizu Theme” song last night, and this is the pattern i’ve figured out for the intro:

    F (-1) > C > F > C > F > C >
    F (-1) > C > F > C > F > C >
    F (-1) > C > F > C > G > C >
    F (-1) > C > F > E > C (+1)

On order to play this combination, i’ve placed the notes on my (PC) Hotbar in the following order:

    Slot 1: F (-1)
    Slot 2: C
    Slot 3: F
    Slot 4: G
    Slot 5: E
    Slot 6: C (+1)

So, basically i’m pressing the following keys:

    1 > 2 > 3 > 2 > 3 > 2 >
    1 > 2 > 3 > 2 > 3 > 2 >
    1 > 2 > 3 > 2 > 4 > 2 >
    1 > 2 > 3 > 5 > 6

You can translate this to a Cross Hotbar layout you like and afterwards, is only a matter of figuring out the right timing. (^_^ )

    Good luck! (^_^ )/

I would like to see SE added another hotbar exclusively for this that can fit the 37 keys in the form of a piano. It would also be interesting if they could add support for USB MIDI keyboard controllers including reading the keys and velocity so we can play longer notes. I picked up an Irig keys 37 Pro USB, using Bome's Midi translator Classic, using almost 4 hot bars (to make it look like a piano). I assigned each key a different control key so it can register every key.

The scary thing is that the midi controller seems to be faster then my keyboard.

    EDIT:
I've been working on playing prologue myself. The tune in FF1 that plays when you cross the bridge after defeating Garland.
    C3 = middle C or C+0, C4 would be C+1, C2 = C-1

    C3 F3 G3 C3 Bb3 A3 G3 F3 E3 F3 G3 F3 F3 E3

    D3 G3 A3 D3 C4 Bb3 A3 G3 F#3 A3 G3 F3 A3 G3 F3 A3 G3
