    So required was a tad extreme, so let us say it would be cool if certain encounters favored different role setups.

    Founded statics that wish to would have to adapt, I am not asking for every fight to have varying rules regarding setup, but some fights that favor having maybe three tanks would be neat. Or certain fights that have hard dps checks and is more mechanics based so maybe you can forgo having two tanks and replace them with another dps.

    Variety is the spice of life. While poor explains, I am not a encounter designer I am sure SE could come up with some interesting encounters that break the mold a tad. Also while I have not raided with a static in FFXIV, though when I did raid back in WoW it was expected for people to get comfortable with different roles since throughout the raid a certain encounter may require a different setup.

    Granted it has been a decent amount of time since I last raided in WoW, and since I do not raid with a static in FFXIV so I do not know the expectations the raiding community has on players. In the end I do not think statics would die if certain encounters favored certain role setups.

    I'm in agreement with the OP.. Look if people want things to matter in this game changes do have to be made. I think getting rid of the offtank is a step in the right path. I mean what could it hurt? I only see good things in that it makes content harder which is what most want right?

    People have posted some reasons why it might "hurt"....I'm guessing you didn't read any responses.

    I don't even play tank but I can see potential issues with people who prefer to play tank unable to get groups because suddenly groups only need one tank, especially when it comes to savage since the raiding community is small.

    Also the raiding meta issue. Balance is already hard enough so making content only need one tank...there is obvious issues with that. Going to have 3 tanks fighting over 1 spot (and what if down the line they add more tank jobs?), sounds bad already even in theory.

    I did read it.. I just don't really agree with it? Either way it's not a fix anyhow and all I'm really saying is my opinion that I think it might help. I mean people complain everything is so brain dead so I figure OP\s' idea is an easy way to make things harder. I'm not saying it's perfect or it'll def work.. but it's an idea more or less.

    Reducing to one tank will basically mean RIP DRK and WAR basically. Paladin is the current dominant tank and to have three tanks fight over one spot will be a nightmare to balance.

    I've thought about this before, I wouldn't mind seeing this through. As a tank I don't like having other tanks and the swapping or secondary mobs some bosses aren't enough to justify the benefit reducing tank requirement
    would bring to ques.

    Except for in high risk content such as savage, should probably have 2-3 tanks for that in case some die, but then again if that happens doesn't that mean you're screwed anyways cause of enrage or whatnot, I don't raid.

    To be clear, I never said this should be done. This was a "what if", phrased as an honest question. It seemed a good way to help level the queues and eliminate cases where the OT feels like a glorified DPS, that's all.

    Considering this would be for roulettes and easier content, why not? It worked for raids. Just leave it for hard content. This wouldn't solve the main problem though, leveling roulette.
