I was running Rabanastre and noticed SE made mechanics slightly more clear. Can you spot the difference?
Still not the best translation, but I suppose it's more clear than "Scatter".

I've never managed to get this mechanic right when it's the demon mask. Are you supposed to stack and not move? Because I still get debuffed that way. :/

It's the same just the opposite.
God > obey
Demon > don't obey
So when it tells you to look away you will look away when it's god but when its demon you do not look away.
When it's the God of Truth (light mask, blue eyes) you simply have to be moving around or be casting something, your proximity to the boss or other players is irrelevant. When it's the God of Lies (dark mask, red eyes) you need to cease all actions including auto-attack. You can be casting, attacking, or moving all you want just so long as you stop before the counter gets to 0. It's just like the Ozma's Acceleration Bomb and may other "Freeze or die/get debuffed" mechanics.
With this character's death, the thread of prophecy remains intact.
The scatter one was:
God > Move
Demon > Stand still.
Kind of bad wording, as I was still sometimes getting the debuff depending on how quickly I stacked up, it had me confused for a good while that one =(

Just do nothing by demon face.
Casting, movement, abilities, weaponskills and Auto-Attacks are counting against you.
See I do that but I swear I still get stacks occasionally. It's like what I'm doing works like 90% of the time.
Demon face boss says look away. So I ignore it and still keep facing it and whacking it and still a stack but I didn't obey... So I should have aced that.
Seems to be a rather inconsistent mechanic.
I don't mean to second guess, but are you positive you're doing it properly? If you're getting stacks that means you were facing the wrong way when the count down reached 0. It could be as simple as missing which God is commanding you. I know from personal experience that I've messed up the commands because I somehow managed to miss what enormous mask flashed on the screen (tunneling harder than Dig Dug, or sometimes it being partially obscured by an exceptionally flashy LB3) and had to guess at what it was, but once I realized the "mask" also swirls around the boss before he puts it on (with a light trail for Truth and a dark trail for Lies) I've found that the mechanics are 100% consistent with my actions so long as I'm doing what it wants.See I do that but I swear I still get stacks occasionally. I would assume that the safe line-of-sight for the mechanic is less than 180 degrees so I suppose it's possible that you were looking "towards" the boss and simply facing too far to one side so it failed you.

Flee is still pretty bad in my opinion since you can still hug him and continue doing damage or whatever. Definitely a definition of not fleeing. And vice versa for Demon's mask.
I'd say that even Scatter was better than Flee.

Yes, Flee is still terrible. I don't know why they didn't change it to something more specific like "Action". I think Flee is a little more descriptive than Scatter though. Scatter implied that it was a proximity mechanic and people were only getting it right coincidentally. Flee at least specifies movement, though it does do a poor job of implying that you can remain near the boss or just keep casting to satisfy the command (nor does it tell you that the opposite of "fleeing" means sitting 100% still, including not attacking).
With this character's death, the thread of prophecy remains intact.
