Exactly. The only two things that made them alike is that one was #1 and one was #2. There will always be the "largest," server, even if it's not Balmung, and there will always be a "second largest," even if it's not Gilgamesh.

Like I've said time and time again, people need to get the hell over themselves and stop comparing the two like they're bound by blood. Things that happen with Gilgamesh do not need to be associated with Balmung and vice versa.

As for unlocking Balmung, good luck. I know a good number of people that regret leaving and are just waiting to transfer back the moment it reopens.

I'm not forgetting #3, I was saying that one server was #1 in population, and one server was #2.

What exactly are we expecting to happen if SE did cave in to these requests and unlocked Balmung before it was ready? I can tell you what is most likely to happen, but I want to hear it from the horse's mouth what they think the outcome will be because requests like these always seem poorly thought out.

I know you're expecting people to say "transfer back/to," and while some absolutely will. I don't think it will be nearly as significant. Mateus has actually managed to cultivate itself as an alternative for RPers. At this point, I feel Balmung residents are more concerned they become like Gilgamesh was than wanting to allow more people to flood in.

Several servers, including Balmung and Gilgamesh (this one is now re-opend) but also servers on the JP datacenters I believe, have been locked for transfers - as in: you couldnt transfer your character to those servers anymore. This happend around spring of this year, if my memory isnt failing me. Til then people used that to circumvent the more or less permanent lock on character-creation on those servers - make the character on a less populated world, pay to get it to Blamung/Gilgamesh/any other server you want it.
This only happend to servers that reached or actually went way over the capacity they can hold - since the automatic lock on character-creation wasnt enough, they finally had to lock those servers for transfer aswell, while offering incentives to transfer to less populated worlds - apparently that isnt enough for some people on Balmung though who dont understand or dont care about the problems their overpopulated server is causing.
Case and point: Balmung remains locked, Gilgamesh got unlocked since the population stablized enough and most other servers have nothing to worry about.

Personally, I'd like it if they would let us that already have characters on the server to make more characters since having more than one character isn't the problem. That's just me though and I doubt there's a way for them to do that without allowing other people into Balmung. I also happen to have four blank spots that I regret not filling when I had the chance.

It's for selfish reasons of just wanting more characters to play and create stories with and entangle them into the same communities my other characters are in. Sure it would be great for more people to be allowed on the server, but stability is something that's also appreciated. We can only hope SE is being as transparent as possible about the issue and they haven't given a reason that they aren't. So hopefully more people move off so I can fill my character slots and maybe some new blood will come in then.
