We are not talking about Raid Gear here. We are talking about Items wich are won in a competitive Game mode. Those Items are not meant for "Gearing up". They are here as a Reward for skill / Compassion you showed in PvP. So, No. It does not apply to every Single Item in the Game. Other Games, like WoW, also have a Elite Version of PvP-Sets wich are NOT obtainable anymore and will always keep theyr Value.

They should at least add a direct exchange for ventures, since trading away PvP gear for GC seals in order to get ventures is what I ultimately end up doing with all my Wolf Marks.
The tiniest lala.
What about ultimate coil? There is no reason to do it aside from the intense challenge yet come 5.0 I'm sure a handful of sprouts could clear it.
Which is something I don't agree with. I pray that they don't let Ultimate become unsynched. I think those who cleared it deserve their rewards. But even then, people know who the world firsts are. And they worked hard as a team, together, to achieve their rewards.
Meanwhile PvP is every man for himself, fighting bots, win-traders, and other legit good players. Stressing out for 3 months and that final black/blind week. (I don't know how it is for NA but on JP it was always competitive). I know I wouldn't go as hard for next season if I could just casually buy the item later.
How would it feel it a Tennis player could get the Wimbledon gold trophy from 1973 by participating in enough Wimbledons. I'd think Björn Borg wouldn't be happy about that.
Or if a football team got a previous world cup trophy by winning the latest. It's different when it comes to competitive PvP imo.
But I guess this if FFXIV, where every player has got to have everything even if they don't want to spend time doing it. Because otherwise riot, right?

Hmmm....I don't think ffxiv pvp is on the same scale as professional physical sports. No one asking for Olympic gold medals. They are asking for pixels...in a game...that doesn't transfer to real life, or other games for that matter. It's a game. Whenever I hear these arguments I think "would you have this mentality if we were talking about monopoly?" People take this game to seriously sometimes. It's hilarious, especially for this game. A game so casual that even the producer says you should play something else.
Anyway. I don't get why there are so many rewards in the golden saucer for mgp. But pvp rewards are tied behind achievements. 100s of wins at that. It's pretty lame, just delete the currency if it's worthless.

Hey, that was just an example of something competitive to make people understand. And it is Yoshi-P who has said that he wants FFXIV to be an e-sport remember? That's not happening if they just hand out rewards people work hard for (and they do work hard for it, game or not). Believe it or not, some people take it more seriously than others. Nothing wrong with that, and neither you nor I have any right to judge.
And yeah. They are asking for pixels in a game. Why do they want those pixels that is a reward for a game-mode that they don't even play then. Plenty of cool looking armor/mounts out there. I do not see an argument around this and I don't know why people would bother making one. If you want the armor/mounts, try for top 100.
"But oh, I want the rewards too, it's unfair!" But as you said, they are just pixels. No need to get so worked up about it, right? Would you have this mentality in monopoly because you wanted the hat piece but someone else took it?
I don't mind Feast rewards being exclusive, but they aren't enough if you want to get a lot of people playing it. They should plan for Garo-level rewards every six months to a year. The competitive thing...look, if you have a mode where people just stop playing to protect their rank, that's not competitive and not worth anything.
Sure, I would love more stuff for PvP overall, for all levels of players and all game-modes.I don't mind Feast rewards being exclusive, but they aren't enough if you want to get a lot of people playing it. They should plan for Garo-level rewards every six months to a year. The competitive thing...look, if you have a mode where people just stop playing to protect their rank, that's not competitive and not worth anything.
On JP at least it remained competitive until the end so there is that. But still, even if people stop they have to get to that particular rating first. I mean, I’d gladly implement a decay system, But people who complain about no rating decay or who say that it isn’t competitive will seem more credible if they have participated.
You aren't really being fair with SE here. You can trade wolf marks for green gear. You can trade green gear for anything that costs GC seals, including ventures. You can get hundreds of useful mats and stuff through ventures, I've done hundreds of millions only with retainers.
