    Problem with reward structure

    So Rival Wings is out and like previous pvp modes you get a mount for 100 wins.

    It's a large-scale mode so your individual contribution isn't much; maybe even less so than previous modes because there can only be one machina per party so other people can deny you of using them.

    If you happen to be on the losing side it's demotivating because your individual contribution to the match essentially amounts to nothing if your team does not win. Progress towards the reward is largely out of your hands.

    That's why I feel like individual contribution should be rewarded more than team wins. It motivates you to try your hardest throughout entire matches even if your team is losing badly....

    They could track lots of things like KOs against players, picking up CE tanks, capturing the generator, destroying towers, KOs against machina, etc.
    Track a bunch of different contribution methods by individual achievements, then reward the mount for an aggregate achievement that makes you do all of them.

    That way people learn of all the different aspects of the game and can control their own progress to rewards even if unluckily placed on the weaker team a lot.
    TL;DR: reward individual contribution more. at least with a minion or something.

    How do other FPS/MOBA games handle this I wonder?

    How do you reward individuals in a team-based mode such that individuals are not focusing on personal points and throwing the team progress in the mean time?

    If you get more personal points for killing enemy players, then nobody will bother going for the objective, no?

    Prob best to have both I guess, personal rewards supplementary to the big team prize.

    Just so people have something to do when we're losing by a landslide. Usually if both of our towers are destroyed but we've hardly made a dent in the other team, people just declare "it's lost" and start arguing instead of maintaining max effort.

    I think the comeback mechanics are a bit weak when you're really far behind to feel like you have a legit chance of coming back. If you're getting crushed it would take nothing short of airdropping an oppressor near their towers to change things, but it can still take a long time waiting for the inevitable with the long distance from base to enemy core.

    In some games there's also additional, like, 50% bonus rewards for top perfomance. (be it EXP, money or something)

    I don't understand. The objective in player vs player is to kill other players. Pve elements should be secondary and not the priority. Pve elements shouldn't be adding so much to team scores. Also, killing enemy team members does add to your teams score. So "getting more personal points for killing enemy players" still benefits the team.

    Mmmh... When I've seen the title of this topic, I would think you'll talking about the idea to be in the top 100 of your world for a reward.
    The "100 wins mount" is more like a farm. The goal is more: during this farm, you have the time to learn how to play pvp. Now, help other people to play pvp.

    This almost worked for me. I'm not very good, but I understand more how I've to play.
    I guess the main issue is the lack of communication, because most of the players wants to play solo (with the sempiternal "You don't pay my sub, I play how I want").
    At least, that's how I see it.

    To op. I thought you were going another way with this. I was sooo disappointed when I logged on today. Where are the rewards? Another 100 win mount and a music scroll? That's it? No new pvp armor? Items? Furniture? Anything to sink wolf marks into? Small "balance" changes and the "materia provisioner" still has that name but offers no materia. It's no wonder the community thinks pvp is a joke. Rival wings wasn't even put on the challenge log. Why did they up the amount of pvp exp. if it means absolutely nothing?

    That too. Well I think rewards for personal contribution in addition to team success would have helped, but yes more wolf mark things would've been nice too. I feel like we used to get wolf mark gearsets more often in the past. It may sound cynical but rewards are a huge part of why people play, like if you removed gear pieces from savage raids then people wouldn't do them nearly as much.

    How would you judge the MVP? I am going to use Shatter as an example. If I do X Damage to Players, Y Damage to Ice, Heal Z Damage, Score N Assists, or Score K Kills. Which has more weight?

    I can already point out flaws in following this kind of methodology
