Do you think a MIDI Keyboard would work if someone was tech savy enough or not really?

You could potentially do it via AutoHotKey or more likely UJR+VJoy. Funnily enough, I'm actually using the latter to be able to drive an SRV in Elite Dangerous using a wheel and pedal set. Then you simply bind the keys in it to buttons, map the buttons with UJR to each key on the vJoy device, and then have it use that vJoy device in game. Should work.
