Lev 30 Lancer Quest

OK, I know to become a Dragoon you have to be lev 30 Lancer / lev 15 Marauder, but do I need to become lev 15 Marauder before doing the lev 30 Lancer quest Eye Of The Dragon where you get the " Soul Of The Dragon " ? OR do the quest first then go lev the Marauder? Sorry for asking newbie Q's, but after all I am NEW to FF. THANKS in Advance!

You no longer need to get to level 15 in another class to unlock the job on your main class. I made the same mistake when trying to figure out why the level 30 quest for my first job wasn't appearing. You just have to be past a certain point in the main story quest and it will unlock. I think the quest you need to pass is called "sylph management".

Not any more, that's outdated information. The requirements to unlock a Job no longer require a sub class to be at level 15 (it was changed when Stormblood launched a few months ago), so all you require now is the Job's base class (in your case, LNC), to be level 30.

You do also have to have completed the ARR main scenario quests up to the level 20 quest 'Sylph Management' as well as all the class quests given by the LNC Guild to the final level 30 one. Once you've completed the final LNC class quest at level 30 at the LNC's Guild, you'll be directed to a certain person in Coerthas Central Highlands who will give you the quest to unlock DRG.

Are you referring to the soul crystal? You have to equip it to be the Dragoon, un-equip turns you back to Lancer. Applies to all other ARR jobs/classes.

In the old system you wouldnt have been offered the Eye of the Dragon quest until you had MRD up to 15, the MSQ up to the sylph management section, and your level 30 lancer quest complete. We need to get some websites to update out the old info so it doesnt confuse new people. And dont be sorry for asking newbie questions, this is the New Player Help forum. Helping is why a bunch of us keep up with this board.

Updates would be nice, but I would imagine there are many that are defunct/abandoned, so there will always be wrong information out on the internet (shocking). Also worth remembering, for any player looking up information, that any game receiving updates means making sure the information is current/relevant.
