    Actually my friend teasing me made me more stubborn and determined to learn. So you bet wrong there.....good idea not to bet on an event from a stranger's life who you don't know anything about, good way to lose the bet.

    You can't really equate a friend in real life to a stranger in a DF run though as that would be different. I understand your point about people ridiculing someone for failing, but those are just rude players and unfortunately we have no way to get rid of them completely. It is something that everyone kind of has to learn to deal with and get a thicker skin about since it is impossible to stop it from happening no matter how much we advocate people to be nice to each other.

    If people leaving or the duty failing completely destroys someone's confidence that sort of isn't the fault of the random players who happen to be in the group or happened to choose to leave. I know it sucks that someone got very upset about it but there isn't any obligation for total strangers to deal with that person's issue though either. I know that may sound cold, but it is just the truth. You can only expect so much from total strangers.
