I think you're not fitting to talk in a forum if you can't read and process what people are writing to you, moreso if you avoid their questions and try to bait them into arguing around your fallacy.

In the end, I assume that you don't agree with this sentient.
Bottom line: If you don't want/try to push the best out of you, you have it coming to get shamed/insulted/kicked out of a party in a multiplayer setting.

Awww, you poor thing...you can't process that you very first question already contains a potential nonsese, and you become all edgy...while still don't adressing it later.

I don't care, since DF people won't remember me ten minutes later even if I'm the most wonderful tank that ever existed in the game...which I'm certainly not.

Assuming we all have the same definition of fun...Spoilers : we don't.

Same as the first question. If you can't have a "smooth" and "fast" run at the same time, chances are we don't have the same definition of what is "best".

No, it's because I'm more concerned of the game being fun to play. And I personally think that wiping because of overdoing things is less fun that a smooth but slower run. I also think that giving a bad experience to a new player will have a deeper impact than "wasting" 5 minutes of people who already played the game for months.

I don't agree that the "best" experience playing the game is necessarily the most mathematically efficient one.

Good for you. But, believe me, there are some players that totally lose any bit of confidence if you tell them they suck on their first failed attempt at speedrunning. Worse, some of them even lose confidence if they fail the duty even if no one blames them. And I'm betting you would have learn how to ride faster if, instead of laughing at you, your older friend cheered you up for your next try.

Actually my friend teasing me made me more stubborn and determined to learn. So you bet wrong there.....good idea not to bet on an event from a stranger's life who you don't know anything about, good way to lose the bet.

You can't really equate a friend in real life to a stranger in a DF run though as that would be different. I understand your point about people ridiculing someone for failing, but those are just rude players and unfortunately we have no way to get rid of them completely. It is something that everyone kind of has to learn to deal with and get a thicker skin about since it is impossible to stop it from happening no matter how much we advocate people to be nice to each other.

If people leaving or the duty failing completely destroys someone's confidence that sort of isn't the fault of the random players who happen to be in the group or happened to choose to leave. I know it sucks that someone got very upset about it but there isn't any obligation for total strangers to deal with that person's issue though either. I know that may sound cold, but it is just the truth. You can only expect so much from total strangers.

Ok, I lost. But, generally, positive reinforcement tends to give better progress.

No, you can't. But I still tend to react the same way with everyone, be it a real friend, a fellow player, or a simple stranger that lacks confidence. That's part of doing my "best" when playing a multiplayer game.

This is no obligation, but that's what I like to do. It doesn't cost me anything and it can help someone, why shouldn't I ?
