NA and EU data centers confirmed.

According to the talk session video
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_737hYbSCEs&feature=youtu.be

So what does everyone think? For ARR will you move to your respective region servers be it NA or EU or stick with the old data center continue to play on the JP international servers?

Personally I probably would want to play on the NA ones because I didn't like the lag.

I think they mean they'll have servers all over the world, so you will connect to the server you are nearest, but the "realms" will still be global, so for example in the same ifrit encounter if you are int he US and other player is int he EU, they'll receive he info about cracks and shit depending on the server who is nearest to them, and the latency issues will dissapear.

At least I hope it's something like that.

That's exactley right. Basically the regional data centers are nothing more then mirrors.

It was also mentioned that people who want those regional servers will get them, I believe.

The two are tottaly different concepts. Regional Severs and Regional Data Center.

They have already said they want to work torward a worldless design. And yes they did say
they would give us the option to play on a regional server. The majority of the people that
want regional hubs want them for performance. This is the best method to keep this a worldwide
game and boost performance to regions outside japan.

the biggest reason for delays and not the server connection.

as you can saw at the gamescom where he played on jp server without any delay.

There are any number of things they could mean to do, but my take on it is that they mean to divide the work load into things that need to be synchronous and things that can be asynchronous. Asynchronous tasks are handled by the server closest to your region, then shunted to the primary server in Japan which in turn notifies the other regional servers. This results in the result being shown to you much faster than anyone else. In cases such as buying and selling things, trading things, soloing, or even partying with players from the same region it would greatly reduce latency.

Synchronous tasks have to be handled by the primary server in Japan, then cascade out to the local servers. This is a massive oversimplification and there are other benefits, such as being able to establish a static trunkline for traffic between the primary and regional servers. This is a quick and dirty flowchart of what it would look like. Though on reflection, it's probably not very useful.

That's exactly what I hope too. Nevertheless I put a question concerning this topic into the german Question thread for the upcoming live letter.

Would really like some confirmation on this... while I'm EU what I most love is to be able to play with players from different regions.

I wish what we get is what Dannythm said.
