    Per above (see: shield/CD must be applied before attack's animation starts), this means you applied it too late. Now with the instant cast aspected benefic it's a bit less likely to happen since you need less lead time, but it does still happen (Anyone remember Sophia?). This also happens with Rampart, Addle, and similar.

    Since AST exists now there might be a case for making Adlo instacast. But this problem won't go away even SE does make it "instant".

    These are actually a separate issue, although both stem from the same one.

    Many instant heals like Benediction and almost all Tank CDs have been purposely delayed on the designers' part to activate only upon ending their animations. That means a noteable delay, but it's not due to netcode alone; one's ping merely adds yet more delay atop that. In the case of Benediction, one must wait for their arms to go up, the effect to be sent, a server check, and then for the tank to receive it; and no matter how low the healer and tank's ping are, there will still be a sizeable delay just from the animation alone.

    In these cases, however, the boss is snapshotting the party state early in addition to facing ping from both the sending player (healer) and receiving players (party). I'd say weirdly early, except that this is actually more common than the opposite. However, as cases in which player health and positioning are calculated only at the last possible moment (the Chariot bosses' figure eight Trample skill, for instance), this delay, too, would appear to be by design or coding oversight, rather than a limitation of the netcode itself.

    As a rule of thumb, I tend to try to make sure all effects have been noticed at least a half second before any cast has ended if I'm unsure of its exact point of check.

    God, I wish I could find it. But there was this one bit I caught through a link that showed the Star Trek enterprise getting blasted AND THEN they put the shields up. It was in reference to this exact same issue, and not only does every SCH go through it, but every job can and will suffer from some kind of delay from what you see, and what is happening inside the server.

    As WHM, you have time to react when you all of a sudden see a enemy cast bar filling up. For a SCH trying to shield it, if you react to a cast bar, you're already too late. You will likely already be in the middle a current gcd, plus have to wait the 2.5ish cast time of Galvanize. The effect of Galvanize has a long duration, so the idea is to have it up even before the casting begins. You could say this requires knowing the fight, but you can also say that pretty much all dungeon and raid bosses 50+ pulse AoE like there's no tomorrow. IOW, the boss is very likely to AoE the group before the effect wears off, so just keep it up if you're learning the fight.

    The thing that makes this is because the shield must be put before the cast bar of the boss attack is over, a lot of attacks makes the dmg like 1 second or so after the cast bar ends. So u see galvanize is online but it was cast after the cast bar of the attack ended so the hit will be done without shield.

    If its up before the cast bar ends it shouldnt be a problem.
