All that aside, OP, they ARE doing something, they ARE making things better, they even went through the tedious effort to create a road map for us, outlining EVERYTHING they ARE doing, WHEN they are doing it, and what EXACTLY will be done.

It's as simple as that. I don't understand why there are so many threads like this?

    Edit:

It's classic. Somebody goes on the game, has a rough night, maybe they die a few times at a primal, bad luck crafting, maybe they couldn't find a grinding party! Maybe they spent too much time crafting and got a little frustrated?

They don't have all their classes at 50, haven't completed even a few achievements, beaten a primal, completed a dungeon or even finished the "main story". So they come on the Lodestone, whine about broken mechanics, bad players and that there is "nothing to do". Its classic.
You're strongly assuming and putting weight to what they ARE doing is the RIGHT thing(s) to do. That's what this thread is about.

Xoo, it's gotten to the point that NOTHING They do will make anyone happy. It's becoming painfully clear to me that MMO'ers are whiny and entitled.

We complain about the game on launch(rightfully so), and so they poll the players, ask for honest input, try to give us what we asked for, and we complain. They fire an entire team, give us a free year, completely remake the game form top to bottom, and we complain.

Every patch that comes along changing core aspects of the game we scream "GAME KILLER!" and wail and gnash our teeth.

We wanted original class names, better combat, smoother UI, and revamped lore...they give us all of this...and we complain.

We can't level fast enough! they speed it up...we complain...they slow it down...we complain.

We want faster travel! We get airships...we complain, we get chocobo's...what there to easy to get? To much traveling to get!? We complain...what? Non chocobo mounts? RAGE!

Even something as tiny as a free gift mount is a game killer.

We flood the forums with angry post after angry post whining and moaning about everything we can think of. Nothing is good enough, nothing is what we want.

I'm starting to think that no matter WHAT they do no matter WHAT changes they make it won't be good enough.

all i was trying to say is that some servers have different issues than others. on a large server it is a good thing to see new players coming in even when some of the older ones are leaving. on a big server it is still easy to get a party together to do things so it is not as lonely.

the problem is on a smaller server when 2 leave and 1 joins you still have that loss of players when we can't afford to lose any. when you get online and see 30 english speaking players on and you are part of 2 of the biggest 3 shells on the server and none has more than 20 on(which includes 10 of the same people) it becomes difficult to get a high level party together when that 20 is 10-15 high level and 5-10 that has no class even to cap. i'm not saying the game is dead or that it cannot rebound. it's just some servers are really struggling due to it's depressingly low numbers.

this is the biggest reason i hope the server merge comes in before my 90 day subscription expires. if it doesn't i may have to take a break until whatever time they get it done. i enjoy the game(yes, there is aspects i am not fond of), but i play a mmo to meet others and group party doing stuff. if there's not enough players to group up with then it becomes an online rpg and i am not into playing solo daily.

I dunno man, I think they kinda can afford to lose players in this phase of the game, since the thing we're doing is Supporting SE to do a good Final Fantasy XIV. The real players will come when SE has done the New Final Fantasy XIV. That's kinda what keeps me from judging the fact that players are gonna come back or not. It's just faith what runs in my head.

For those people who play in low-populated servers, I'm glad they'll have the choice to transfer. At least they can keep up the fun in another world with more people =)

It's their developmental perogative to listen to the players - a highly erroneous one if you ask me. You've got so many different kinds of players with different tastes that you're never going to fill their mouths with what they'd rather be eating. They should make the game the way they want to make it and say to hell with everyone else. I speak my peace not because this or that is the kinda game I'd rather be playing, but that the implementation of certain aspects of the game just don't add up to make good sense.

As well, people are continually paying for a product that is ever-changing; If people start to feel they're not getting their money's worth, then they are going to complain, which is usually on the list of things to do on your way out the door if you get that far without some good justifications.

Fans of the Final Fantasy series are all about storylines, extended content, massive hours and some good challenges. This game is a 180 and people are pissed off to no end.

oh yeah. they can afford to lose them because right now is beta and i think most people realize that although it was argued when payment started it wasn't there anymore. i don't mind paying for them to keep working on the game. i'm just on a horribly small server and it's bad when there's so few people online that even with 3-4 linkshells together you can only get enough people to do a primal once every few days.

exactly on the transfer. it's just that more people are needed to enjoy an online mmo. the numbers could dwindle to the point where there was only one server open during this time frame as long as there was enough to give feedback and they would be fine. it's just hard to give honest feedback on how the game is when there's not enough to get a group together to do things. i know i play daily and have alot of things i would like to do, but most of those require having a party to do. working on my luminary tools is ok, but that is not how i want to spend all the time i play the game.

if you even look across the forums the majority of negative feedback comes from people that are on the low population servers and the majority that are talking great about it are on the high pop ones. i'm hoping once the merge/transfer comes in the overall morale of the low population players, including myself, will improve due to having enough people to be able to group and do things with.

Yeah, I can understand the feeling clearly. I just hope I might see you around!
About the beta part... how can I say it... It's a beta, okay? But it doesn't feel like it. There's a lore behind it, all this Seventh Umbral Era thing is happening in this "beta" period. It's more like the world is evolving to a new one, which is basically Beta -> Release, but with an interesting story that adventurers in 2.0 will not have the chance to experience if we don't open our mouth, y'know what I'm sayin'?

oh i completely agree with you. it is a beta and i don't mind paying for it because i have invested alot of time into my character. my only problem is the number of players on the server. i remember on release i would have issues even getting a retainer in limsa or grid because they were quite packed. now i don't even have an issue getting retainers in any ward i choose in uldah.

i am enjoying watching the world and game evolve and want to continue doing so until 2.0. i just want more people to enjoy the evolution with. hopefully the merge comes soon so that wish can come true. i just can't see paying to enjoy it if there's nobody on the server to enjoy it with. i'm hoping alot come back with jobs though because it would be good to see some of the friends i've made and kept over the last year back and active again.

i was just showing why the people on the smaller servers are more vocal in their problems. the morale on those servers is very low, at this point, and hopefully the merges will change alot of those mental states.

Hi. I'm a "new player" on a high pop server.. well highest when i made my char.

I have yet to see someone say anything... i've tried to talk to people. Got nothing. So i've played solo.. mined up to level 30.. but that is as much of that mini game i can take.

There is no community, the world isn't alive. The most i've seen is people run around and emote. People don't respond, people don't talk. Everyone who has been playing raced to 50 on everything and has nothing to do... New players are scarce and have no one to talk to or play with.

Its hard to get excited about anything. The most excited i have been is to get a new weapon/pic.. every 8+ levels. Not to mention the search feature for the wards is tedious and annoying (which is why i have mostly npc bought armor). I was excited to get my mount, not sure why, it just lets me run somewhere faster to be alone.

Hopped on my mount and tried to get out of lominsa.. ended up jumping on the ferry... luckily i saw the little (!) light up by the gate or i wouldn't of gotten on the ship.. who would of though the NPC's weren't the ones to let you on. The ride was boring.. no scenary.. no mobs, no birds.. just the same thing aside from about 15 seconds when close to the other city... might of well just had a picture for 5 minutes... but i digress.

If the 2.0 launch actually brings in a good amount of new people and hopefully new servers.. then the game could do well. All things being said, the game isn't horrible. Its just not anywhere near what i consider to be final fantasy standards. I hope they make it better... god i do. I want a mmo to play.. but as it stands, this game, this community, this waste of time.

Can't have a mmo without people... and people apparently don't play this game.
