well, when a game aims for instances as a main sournce of end game, you can tell game is flopping.

well, when a game aims for instances as a main sournce of end game, you can tell game is flopping.

Ok so what I've seen in here is that:
(a) If you wait until 2.0 things will magically get better
and
(b) If you haven't completed every last thing there is to do in the game, then you have no say.
Let's begin.
First of all, the lot of you still playing and riding on the "2.0 is going to be night and day difference" bandwagon need to stop. 2.0 is merely a graphics overhaul, landscape change and a UI replacement. THAT'S IT! There aren't going to be 50 new dungeons, 30 new sets of armor, 2 new jobs, 1 new class, etc. etc. that comes with it. If you want that stuff expect to wait till 2014 for it. 2.0 is simply the start of SE being able to focus more time and effort on rolling content out faster, so again, if you think 2.0 is a content giant, you're dead wrong.
Now to address the other players on here that have brought up current content completion.
Most of you who have said that not completing every tiny little miniscule and redundant task in this game disqualifies you from complaining about content, need to seriously take off the rose tinted glasses and cut the Final Fantasy Cheerleader crap out.
We all know the current crafting system is a total joke now, so to tell someone they need to grind each class up to 50 by spamming "standard" for hours on end, is complete stupidity.
Achievements have little if ANY reward for their completion and are more or less aesthetic bragging rights in nature . To tell another player to accept this as viable content that should be completed, is flat out moronic.
Due to the clusterscrew of dated items and crap gear in this game, telling another player that if they don't own every piece of it, they haven't "enjoyed" that content is down right desperate.
Telling players that if they have not fought every single monster in this game, whether it's rewarding to do so or not, is also very foolish to use as defense in a "no content" argument.
To anyone that says a player who hasn't explored every map, has not truly completed the content, needs to be slapped. Why bother exploring a landscape that will be totally changed in 2013? There's no sense in familiarizing yourself with it or even gaining access to all the waypoints.
I can go on and on here with some of the most retarded and poor excuses for "content" that the group of you here have suggested as "viable content" but i'd just take too much space up lol.
The fact of the matter here, is that most of the games worthwhile content lies in the primal and boss fights. Everything else is either: too broken to enjoy doing it, or is just non-rewarding superfluous extra junk that SE throws in to make the hardcore players happy.
As others have stated, this WILL NOT change much in the next year. You will get 7 new jobs with AF armor to experience (most of which are just using the ultimate skills they took away from us in 1.20), two new fights and maybe a few new sets of armor. Most of it is ancillary and of little value to the general cross section that plays this game.
If you want any real groundbreaking changes to this game, expect to wait until Q2 or Q3 of 2013, but by then most peoples patients and interests will have long faded to the other rockstar MMO lineup that is in store for the gaming community in the next 16 months.
I'm sorry if this sounds "troll-like" or really negative, but I can't bring myself to be some unrealistic wishful thinker who believes this game stands a chance of securing a stable, money-making playerbase with so many odds stacked against it.
The cold hard truth is, that each month that passes, it becomes harder and harder for SE to keep potential players interested. This becomes more apparent when other fun and quickly growing MMO's start emerging around it that tower above and cast a shadow of forgetfulness on FFXIV.
It will be interesting to see just how much money SE wants to throw at this game to try and put even the tiniest spotlight back on it come 2013. My guess is not much. This game is so far in the red right now it's not even funny.
If this game can acquire the 50 - 100k players it needs to survive and thrive in 2013, then I am definitely going to become a believer in SE. Until then I have MAGNANIMOUS grounds to base my doubts on.

I appreciate your input, but there are a few things about your post I don't agree with
Nothing magic about the amount of work they're putting into this overhaul.
What about the actual dungeons and non instanced stronghold included with the new landscape. Then there's those new towns which are sure to have new quests. And that Crystal Tower they're apparently working on.2.0 is merely a graphics overhaul, landscape change and a UI replacement. THAT'S IT!
Those crowns and tools are the best of their kind. I'd hardly consider them to be of little reward.Achievements have little if ANY reward for their completion and are more or less aesthetic bragging rights in nature . To tell another player to accept this as viable content that should be completed, is flat out moronic.
Well, because it's not going to be there anymore. May as well see it before it goes away forever. To anyone that says a player who hasn't explored every map, has not truly completed the content, needs to be slapped. Why bother exploring a landscape that will be totally changed in 2013?
That's really more of an opinion than anything. The fact of the matter here, is that most of the games worthwhile content lies in the primal and boss fights. Everything else is either: too broken to enjoy doing it, or is just non-rewarding superfluous extra junk that SE throws in to make the hardcore players happy.
How do you know this? I haven't heard much word on the actual skills available for jobs, so if you have a link I'd love to see it.As others have stated, this WILL NOT change much in the next year. You will get 7 new jobs with AF armor to experience (most of which are just using the ultimate skills they took away from us in 1.20)
Unrealistic thinking can go both ways. This game won't die. It might not be a super popular game. But it won't die. Not for quite a while at least.I can't bring myself to be some unrealistic wishful thinker who believes this game stands a chance of securing a stable, money-making playerbase with so many odds stacked against it.

The way some people talk, it sounds as if they feel 2.0 is going to change EVERYTHING and magically become a new game. That's what I was referring to. Their efforts are commendable to say the least though, I agree.
Alot of that won't be coming until after 2.0 or will be introduced to the old world before 2.0 and then just brought over. I wish I could find the stinkin post where Yoshi talked about priorities and what not. I think it was one of the Dev letters. Either way 2.0 won't be too dissimilar from the current world before it launches. What about the actual dungeons and non instanced stronghold included with the new landscape. Then there's those new towns which are sure to have new quests. And that Crystal Tower they're apparently working on.
Yes that's part of the "little" reward I was referring to. Out of all the Achievements there are, only those few give rewarding substance of value. Even then, if you're not a gatherer, they are of NO VALUE. So truthfully they're only rewarding fro people that want to or can actually use them. Those crowns and tools are the best of their kind. I'd hardly consider them to be of little reward.
ya but comon. You and I both know the landscape is about as drab and boring as MMO's come. There's really only a few caves and dungeons that have a unique look and color pallet to them.Well, because it's not going to be there anymore. May as well see it before it goes away forever.
You're absolutely right in that regard. It is opinionated, but it's the opinion of the general consensus, which kind of adds validity. That's really more of an opinion than anything.
Sorry, I'm the lazy type that hates finding links XD I know it's around here somewhere. Yoshi gave us a projected skills list for the jobs. Most of what was in that list seemed like recycled content, while only a handful seemed to have been freshly programed skills. If I find where it's at i'll link it here in an edit. How do you know this? I haven't heard much word on the actual skills available for jobs, so if you have a link I'd love to see it.
Ya I never said it would die, SE is too big to let that happen any time soon. I was referring to succeeding. It's tough to project financial success for an MMO that's had such a terrible start like this one has. History dictates that the first fiscal year is the most important one for an mmo. So while the game may stagger along, I find it tough to say that it's going to rise from the ashes like a phoenix and pull a 180 financially because that would require a miracle at this point.Unrealistic thinking can go both ways. This game won't die. It might not be a super popular game. But it won't die. Not for quite a while at least.
That's why I said to not think of 2.0 as magical. Perhaps I should have said Miracle instead. 2.0 is in no way a miracle, but rather a step in the right direction. It's within the first 6 months of 2013 that miracles need to start happening if SE wants any shot at the financial gains they're expecting from this game.

There's a big difference between optimism and hardcore fan-fueled clouded judgement, which is most of what these "Pollyanna" sounding posts are filled with. If me stating the predictions based raw data and history in the mmo industry or correcting fallacies about what's coming in 2.0 is too much for you, then by all means go find a "feel good" thread and spend your time there. So what? Its called optimism.
Is it that i'm not making sense or that your interpretation skills are just a WEE bit rusty? I never said they would remove content. For that matter, NO ONE has said that. Anything put into the game now, is going to be brought over in 2.0. That's all that was said... Nothing more.Your not even making sense here.
Thanks for posting the list of skills I was looking for. Now lets dissect them.
PLD: various cures. (we all expected these, just more Cures...)
Grants imperviousness to melee attacks. Effect fades upon moving. (welcome to the new Sentinel)
Redirects a melee attack against the target party member to you. (glorified taunt nothing new)
WAR: Redirects a portion of the next damage you sustain back to its source (Hey look at that a new skill! Chalk one up!)
Oh wait it's just reverse Bloodbath...
AoE attack. Consumes MRD Ability 5 effect (welcome to the new Storms Path)
Grants an additional attack to the next weaponskill used (welcome to the new Keen Flurry)
Increases the maximum HP and attack power of all party members (OMG a new buff!! jump for joy Chalk 2 up)
MNK: Adds kicks to auto-attacks (Tell me, how hard do you think this copy pasta skill was to program?) LOL
Prevents target from executing actions or moving (smells like a glorified Sleep to me with more restrictions)
Converts your attacks into wind attacks (same BS different element and stat boost)
Twofold melee attack...with a chance to prevent enemy from using wep skills (Same thing as Fracture *yawn)
Increases attack speed (OMG did MNK get a new skill!!!! oh nvm it's just Speed Surge w/o the HP absorb)
DRG: Performs a jumping attack on the target (Sounds like Doomspike to me - the AOE)
Performs a jumping evasion and attack that triggers when you are attacked (hmm seems creative enough, what the hell Chalk 4 up!!!)
Deals fire damage to all enemies within range of the target (Sounds like an AoE Fire back when CNJ had it, so unless the DRG lights his fart to perform Firaga, I'm saying no for now)
Short-range attack (umm.....) Combo: Draws in enemies with enmity towards you (oooo hey look at that NOW were talkin. Way to get creative SE chalk 5 up!!!)
AoE melee attack (too vague)
BRD: Increases the maximum HP and certain magic effects of all party members ( wait a minuet, Didn't I just read something similar to this in the WAR section? Oh well...)
Deals damage to all enemies within range of the target (welcome to the new Wide Volley)
Gradually restores the MP of all party members (Shroud of Saints - enimity shed + AoE feature...)
Increases the physical and magic accuracy of all party members (Did they just smash Dark Seal and Hawks Eye together in an AOE? For SHAMMME)
Gradually increases the TP of all party members (Invigorate with an AoE effect...)
WHM: Eliminates cast time of next spell ( oh HI Chainspell there you are man i missed you...)
Instantly restores HP of all party members (guessing it's curaga with no cast time or AOE Second Wind...)
Gradually restores the target's HP (aww how nice, they gave us Sacrifice back and took away the HP cost. Boy wasnt that sweet...)
Consumes all MP to deal damage to all enemies within range. Chance to inflict Bind (Uh oh Uh oh! Is that semi-creativity I smell? GOLD STAR for you SE chalk up 6!!)
Removes an enfeebling effect from the target. (looky there, Contagion got a Facelift and a nerf at the same time...)
BLM: Switches current HP and MP values (Even tho this is copy pasta from XI i'll give credit for the fact that it's new here chalk up 7!)
Deals lightning damage to target (Sounds like Burst to me..)
Puts all enemies within range of the target to sleep (ya that's new...LOL)
Deals fire damage to all enemies within range (Hey everyone Flares back in town and better than ever!...)
Deals ice damage to target and reduces enmity (Hey Freeze I'm lovin the makeover...)
Well there you have it. 7 truly new skills out of that list. The rest were recycled with additional clauses added to them or just more of what we already have. Boy I sure am excited, how about you? I bet you can't wait to slap on your nut-hugging BRD tights and strum me a tune on that manly harp-bow of yours can ya?
Lulz

Point A... ok...if you say man.
I love how people take something and make it sound the way they want it too so they can support their ideals.
It was never stated that people who haven't completed everything have no say period, thank you very much.
People can talk and suggest things they would like to see in the game.
People can comment on ideas and concepts that they have for the game.
People can do a lot of things, that's why the forums are here.
But I don't like people who sit here and say that Primals are the whole game and once they are done there is nothing to do. I don't like when people complain they have nothing at all to do, oh my god I am so bored, and then you see they haven't even done half of what the game has to offer.
If people have ideas, if they want to see things, PLEASE say it. But don't complain that there is nothing to do and that they are bored when everyone can see people pads and lodestone and know exactly how much they have done.
I didn't read the rest of your post because your first two points were so silly I figured their wasn't a point.
I'm just a bun boy, doing bun boy things.
