    Fates And How To Fix Them [Hopes for more open world content]

    In a recent interview, Yoshi-P talked about wanting to add more into the world to get players out and about with repeatable content.
    While I have many ideas and requests like adding lock boxes as drops from FATES, there is a lot they can do to improve them especially when you no longer need XP to level.

    A few quick notes:
    • Add a small amount of endgame currency when you no longer need XP, it shouldn't be that much, but a good option while you wait in queue.
    • Update Seals (all types) as a possible drop
    • Add new fates (red?) that are super hard boss versions (basically take some of the diadem and put it in the open world)
    • Add World Fates

    There just needs to be an incentive for endgame and mid level players to engage in fates. As it stands, roulettes and dungeons are the best exp/hr where FATE's are a slow crawl.


    How about a Wonderous Tails FATE edition? You get a book of FATEs and stickers that can give you rewards and can be repeatable. Those rare minions and large chunks of gil would be enough incentive to get people to do them.

    Yes please! I do like the content in the game, however more content sounds good to me.

    I would still love to see more open world content that encourages players to work together. I think creating a second tier to Battlecraft leves which offers a difficult challenge with a random surprise each time would be great too! Include level sync and everyone can do it.

    Conquest from Final Fantasy XI came to mind while listening to the idea about the server/s uniting. I would like to see something similar to that again. I do sometimes miss the old days where I could spend an evening doing one activity for a longer period of time, while also talking to my group.

    I would really like for Medium sized FATE groups to be a thing still. I loved the open world gameplay.

    I wouldn't want lockboxes - leave those for freemium games.

    I do think that FATEs need some more love though. Perhaps they could:
    - Bump up exp/hr to to make FATEs a viable alternative to PotD / Squadrons (I know, "but FATE leveling doesn't teach your class", well PotD doesn't either)
    - Expand the Stormblood bonus EXP system to all zones
    - Increase gil and seal rewards
    - Maybe (re)introduce DotL / DotH FATEs (I think 1.0 had something similar?)

    The realistic thing needed to revitalize fates is the very same thing the devs are trying to avoid: world-building and reputation system similar to beast tribes except it would be called the Community Hero system (tentative title). For example, if you complete the fate in little ala mhigo--the one where you're fending off worms from the...U' tribe I believe?--you get heroic points that can be spent on various rewards.

    And it doesn't have to be combat based only either.

    We need DoL/DoH fates. Help mine areas to enrich the economic progress of nearby villages/towns and you get recognition points. Uldah has refuge problems. Have a fate where you switch between gathering and using your DoH skills to help them build tents or clothes.

    The possibilites to really re-energize fates and even creates stories with them are endless. And yes, I know the idea will be given the usual spiel of "SE haz no resources for that/development costs/etc" but ultimately, if they want people to enjoy or get more out of fates, that's what it needs.

    POTD and PvP are what from my understanding killed the Fates. Take away XP from those and you would see people running fates again. SB is a giant leap in terms of hp/damage at 60 so it's either go to SB areas and hope you can survive the fates or run back to HW where you don't have to worry about anything other than a A/S rank popping on you, but lesser XP. After 62 you can run new dungeons until 70 with no issues and then of course daily roulettes. Fates in SB give quite a bit of good xp with buffs for xp but they're really hard to solo until the gear starts leveling out with the damage and defense of mobs. Fates from my understanding are pretty much just the books/NM's combined into 1 thing from XI and from what i've seen of 1.0 it didn't have any fates (could be wrong, not 100% sure on that).

    But then it becomes a circular problem.

    We need a solution where a player can pretty much spin a coin on what he/she wants to do between those three (pvp/potd/fates) and still be satisfied that it landed on one that won't gimp him/her on rewards

    It would have to give me a coin or something for a piece of 340 gear. (or whatever the most current gear is). Why else would I spend my time.

    I can tell you if there was a way to get current ilvl gear, everyone and their alt would be out doing fates.

    They really need to fix the scaling from going out of control because a hunt group or whatever rolled through. Even better would just be not making the outside world not so over-scaled.
