    Tenants and housing timers?

So, I realize that if you're a tenant in a house your presence doesn't actually save the house from being demolished if the actual owner doesn't enter.

But I was wondering if you, as a tenant, at least get some kind of warning? I've been sharing a house with a friend but sadly he's been really busy with life and hasn't been on much. I know the timers are paused and I don't think he would actually let the timer run out. But it got me to thinking about the possibility in the future.

If he ends up letting the timer run out, I'd like to snap up the furniture I've crafted/bought myself for his estate, so knowing that information is a bit crucial. Does anyone have insight on this?

if you are tenant/share on a house, the auto demolition timer notice will show up in your timers window on the second page. However, since the timer is still suspended i'm not sure if anything will show up. best to just watch for any news of it being reinstated and get your friend to log in before then. it'll probably be reinstated when 4.2 drops. that's just my opinion tho not fact.

Just adding to this, it'll only show up once it's been at least 30 days since the owner walked inside the house. If you don't see anything the timer is currently < 30 days.

If the owner hadn't walked in the house for > 30 days at the point SE froze demolition then the timer would show up and it'd be forever frozen on however many days it was on.

Until they walk inside the house at least. Once they walk inside the house it'd reset the timer back to zero days and this is the same with everyone else, anyone who walked into their house since the demolition pause has put it back on zero days so when they start the timer again, it'll start on zero, even if it's actually been like 3 weeks since the last time someone walked inside.

    Hope that's some help!

Thanks a lot for the information, guys.

It would be nice if they allowed tenants to reset timers, but ehh. I doubt that one. Also wish I could (with permission from the owner) set the house to private/public. Mmm... :T

This simple change would free up quite a few plots.

If tenants could reset the demo timer on plots then I know quite a lot of people that would be more willing to share houses instead of each having there own scattered all over the place

At least 8 people I know only own a house many almost empty. because they can't share one with there friends. Last time 2 of them were tenants they lost the house be sure the owner unsubbed for 3 months. Even though they were using it everyday and it was literally next door to our fc. So now they've bought there own

Yep, this is absolutely true. I know a few friends who are exactly the same - they'd be content just sharing a house but because you cant rely on someone else to always log in, they have their own. Another one of my friends won't even make an FC room because he has trust issues since his FC before disbanded and the house was lost and doesn't trust other players to log in for a shared house. I don't really understand why tenants don't reset timers anyway? You can't have an alt as a tenant, so there's no room for abuse in this system. Just doesn't make much sense to me. If someone who owns the house to some capacity is using it actively, I don't understand why it should be lost to them.
