Speaking of Au Ra separated horn types, I wonder why that restriction was chosen. Elezen and lalafells can choose their ear type, so I don't think it would have been difficult to do the same with horns. I guess every race has a single custom trait; in Au Ra's case, the devs decided that customizing the tail was more important than the horns (???), but I'll never understand this. Does anyone actually care about Au Ra tails? I'd have gladly traded it for horn customization!

More faces would be a good start, just give every race/gender 4 more faces and maybe add a new face every few patches. Too many characters look the same, some races do not have this issue, because they are not popular, but when you look at the Hyur"s, Au Ra and Miqo'tes, 95% people always have the same faces, same look. Which is not a bad thing in it self, but if you want to make your own unique character, one that you can call your own, then this is not possible in FFXIV.

- more faces and let people mix eyes, noses etc.
- separate face make up, if I want to give my character some blush, let me pick other stuff aswell.
- Tattoos and let us place them on other parts of our body
- Long hairstyle
- BOOTY

I wont expect body silders or the ability to make a skinny/fat/muscle character, but they should atleast give us more faces.

Seems like an awful decision on their part. And yes, they restrict each race with their own unique options.
Elezen and Lalafell would have the ear size and ear clasps.
Miqo'te and Au Ra having tail type and size, Au Ra also have Limbal Rings so they have the most options.
Hyur and Roegadyn got the short end, only having the muscle definition slider.

I guess they outdid themselves with Au Ra for having 3 unique options, and now have no room for another which is the horn type. I'd probably trade Limbal Rings for it though.

EDIT: I forgot that Elezen and Lalafell get ear type as well. I think Miqo'te get ear clasps too but I forgot.

I chose more face options, because as much as people wanna harp on Au Ra, almost every race (particularly for ladies) has "face 1" syndrome.

Roegadammes, as glorious as they are, almost always use the same one or two faces for their clan. They may stand out from the crowd, but unless they're really good at tweaking the facial features and hair it's very easy for them to look identical to each other. Elezen have the same issue: they don't even have four face options, they have two. You just decide if your face comes with make up pre-applied or not. I'm not exempt either: most hyur midlanders tend to use face 1 or the default the game offers you, which is face 5. I run face 5.

Right now races either have next to no options (Elezen), or they have many options but only one or two options look any good. Other than the internet loves cats I honestly believe that's one of the main reasons female Miqo'te are so popular: all four face options look wonderful, and because their proportions are so close to Hyur they get the best of the game's glamour. You honestly have to try very hard to make an ugly female Miqo'te. Au Ra ladies have the most variance in face options, and they all honestly look great (to me), but because horns are attached to face a ton of folks are made to choose based on that (hence why so much face 1).

Give us more face presets to pick from if we must go with presets. And for heaven's sake if Elezen and Lalafell can pick their ear shape and length I don't understand why the Au Ra couldn't do the same with their horns.

Something I've been noticing through the MSQ and job quests is that there are a ridiculous amount of characters using that one nice shoulder-length male hairstyle (at a quick count: Pipin, Artoirel, Briardien, Tedalgrinche, Sevestre), so I really think they could do with some other similar-but-different styles for the sake of their own character designs...


If I could change one thing about character customisation though, I'd really like to have a choice of the emote animations by personality rather than being locked to your character's race/gender. I'm happy with my main Midlander girl's emotes, but for both the other characters I invented-then-created-as-alts (female Roegadyn and male Elezen) the character emotes don't really match up with my idea of their personalities.

If we had more ear and tail options for Miqo'te, particularly kinds that are less "cat," the desires for more animalistic races could be fulfilled for a lot of players.
