Rival Wings and bots

I see it like this:

Shatter promotes passive play, making it such a prime target for botting. Rival Wings most certainly does not. And given that it's still new, many actual players are queueing for it. If someone happens to encounter someone botting, be swift and merciless in reporting it. Spread the word about the botter too. Don't allow that to spoil this new mode for us. They can stay in Shatter since they clearly don't care anyways.

I don't think we'll see as many, since part of the reason Shatter was so heavily botted were people using it to mass level DPS at the start of Stormblood or end of HW. Rival Wings is insulting low exp if you lose-something like 350k at 60- and at 20 minute matches you are better off doing anything else for exp. Even the tome reward is worthless, for 20 minute matches. The only real reward is the mount for 100 wins, and you can't bot that.

I for one hope that doesn't change.

It's decent XP for someone 30 and up leveling, but at higher levels, there's far more lucrative ways to level, and if someone's ONLY going to PvP for that, they'd be better served doing something else, and not potentially dragging down a team for potentially only being focused on leveling.

I don't think it will change, but it will have its own issues. I think interest in general will fall off pretty quickly, since matches play the same way every time and its ridiculously hard to counter an early advantage or proper teamwork playing the game the way the devs intended. SE needs to honestly get over the JP mindset of everyone acting as a well oiled machine and make a mode much more about skirmishes and reacting to emergent events.

We called it Seal Rock (Seize), and back then everyone was so convinced that PvP was trash and didn't want to try it.

It was very popular then, I played it when it came out. Don't get me wrong, rival wings is very well done for what it is, but I'm just saying that I can see good teamwork being an insurmountable obstacle in it.

There is a mount for 100 wins. Yes there will be bots, if they can get even one win for doing nothing then they will use it. After a couple of months the bots will return to shatter.

I just pray people don't start scripting them to use the mechs, because misusing those is probably the easiest way to make your team lose.

I think FFXIV Is going to be phasing frontlines out entirely in favor of rival wings.
