To continue, may I ask why you would feel like compensation is due for the reason above? It's not SE's fault right?

In the abstract, SE has a responsibility/obligation to ensure they are providing quality service. Why you feel their obligation suddenly changes after a set period of time is beyond me.
An operation with the scale of FFXIV can't just cut ties with their hosting service and ISP without giving them reasonable time to address an issue like DDoS attacks. The logistics of moving everything is complicated and time-consuming also. I've worked with hosting and ISPs long enough to know how long these sorts of impairments usually take and should take to resolve under normal circumstances. I'd start to ask questions about the competency of NTT's ability to handle DDoS attacks after cutting them some slack for few weeks, especially given that the NTT has proven that they can work around each attack within a few minutes. If the attacks lasted for much longer than they do when they happened, I'd probably be less inclined to be as patient but the responsible people at NTT seem to be getting on top of each attack and doing something about it right away.

...same thing happening here. We're simply not at the part where the delivery service is shown to be unreliable yet.
Something else comes to mind. What if you are late for work by a few minutes for a week because there is construction and you have no history of lateness? Should your boss have a heavy hand and dock your pay or take other drastic measures? If you are a good employee, you'll leave earlier or find a better way to get to work and your boss will forget about it. If you are habitually late for weeks on end, then I'd expect your boss would look at taking corrective measures. I'm not convinced that NTT has proven that they can't get this resolved and that SE needs to find another hosting service yet. If this is still going on next week, I'll be concerned.

About the time you and every other whining person understands how networking works and who is actually at fault here.

I haven't been able to play since last Sunday without dc's and horrific lag that puts the game in slideshow mode so I just quit logging in. The few times I have logged in it was to test the connection only to find it was still just as bad if not worse. This is the least I've played this game since it launched in 2013 and I've never missed a month of sub time.

You should be asking the tier 1 ISPs if they will credit you. It was not a ffxiv network or server issues causing the disconnects.

Not a solution but a suggestion

While the dc's are not pleasant getting back into the game is just as bad due to queue times. Would it not be possible to reinstate the afk timer that they had when stormblood was released to reduce server load by removing player who are not actually active at the moment.? Figure the coding is in place or easily enough reinstated that might at least help on their end.

The queue times are from everyone trying to log back in at once—it doesn’t have anything to do with AFK players. The disconnects aren’t due to server congestion either, but DDoS attacks on NA ISPs. An AFK timer won’t fix either of these problems.

So less players logged into the game would not reduce server load that doesn't make much sense to me. Especially when people afk for hours and even days.

The problem with the DC's is not server load. It is an attack on the ISP that provides access to the internet backbone for the game servers that is causing the DC's and extreme lag. It wouldn't matter if there was only one player on a particular game server as they will be impacted when the attacks happen just the same as if there were a thousand players.

The servers aren't crashing from that. People are disconnecting due to DDoS attacks, not from server congestion.

It is the way SE does login. That is why when Balmung crashes and all try to log back in a server with 500 people can't log back in. It is a awesomely (/cry) designed system compared to other game lobbies.
