Just as the title says. Square, you have got to upgrade your servers if they can't handle the amount of players on larger communities, or you are going to slowly choke the life out of this game's biggest groups.

This is not conjecture, this is fact. If you quarantine a community and seal it away it is eventually going to die. People cannot invite anyone, new blood will never find their way there, people will slowly quit because they ALWAYS slowly quit, and there will never be anyone to replace them.

Guilds will stagnate, raid groups will trickle off, and the community will eventually die. And this is exactly what you are complicit in by refusing to upgrade or even open servers and just let us deal with queue times. I think MANY players on locked servers would rather deal with occasional queues than see the slow death approaching our communities.

For weeks now I have seen Balmung FC leaders and group leaders fret over the lack of recruitment lately, slowness of events on Balmung, noticeable lack of attendance to events, etc. Members talk more frequently about their Mateus alts and such, furthering the lack of activity.

I have been a member of Balmung since day one, and I originally bought my last PC solely to have something capable of running 1.0. I occasionally buy cash shop glam items and I have several Recruit a Friend programs in cycle. My sub has not lapsed once. I am as loyal and devoted a player as you will find, but the silence and treatment large servers are getting is worrying me.

I have not truly enjoyed an MMO since the Wrath era of WoW, over nine years ago. I do not want to see what's become my home turn into a shell of its former self and simply be left to collapse inward because its own developers are too stubborn to see what game has been keeping them in the black for years and give them the funding and resource they deserve.

Square, mark my words: Find a way to open these servers before it's too late, or the only people you'll have to blame when your largest groups of players disperse is yourself. YOU are killing your own game more than anything else right now.
