    [Request] Make HNM weapons worth it!

    Heya!

    I was hunting HNMs around the world (Great Buffalo, Dodore,...) with my Linkshell and other pals, when at the Haughtpox Bloatbelly kill I won a Blunt Aeolian Scimitar.
    I couldn't wait to craft the actual Aeolian Scimitar, so I took my hammer, went to the city and actually crafted it!

    Aeolian Scimitar
    Damage: 89
    Hit rate: 2.6
    Other stats: None

    It's kind of a shame, because I have a Cobalt Winglet:

    Cobalt Winglet
    Damage: 90
    Hit rate: 2.6
    Other stats: Accuracy +5, Attack Power +5

    It's kind of right to ask that a weapon crafted from a rare drop of a Notorious Monster to be special and more powerful than a weapon crafted with mere materials.

    So my request is: Can you guys make these weapons more worth it? It feels like you craft this weapon just for the looks!

    kindof kills the purpose of even attempting a HNM for gear. Guess we will be doing it for achievements.

    HNM gear should be equal or close to 2x materia gear in power.

    My guess is that when 2.0 is out, all the old HNMs will be replaced by new ones, and their gear will be new as well and balanced appropriately.

    As in it ought to be.

    Its just my opinion, but it is likely that after the devs take a look at player feedback and the prevalence of materia, future (blue rarity) U/U gear will be made to be equivalent to 2-meld gear.

    only if the NM's are harder. The NM's in game right now are all super easy. Dodore has the most useful drop and prob is also the most challenging.(not counting SH nm's)

    also a bunch of the nm gear is meldable so thats a step in the right direction.

    They were the best weapons at one point.. Also don't think they are considered HNM's. Hopfully they will have these NM's be relevant once again for future content.

    Crafted stuff should just be your Infinity Minus One Sword (i.e. the scimitar), not your Infinity Plus One Sword. Use the former as a way to the latter, or content yourself with the former if you're fine with being only semi-pro (like me).

    I agree 100%. Every time SE adds something they blast whatever they did (beforehand) into complete and utter redundancy.

    This is what people wanted though. (Make XIV a standard MMORPG!) Once they get around to expanding the game rather than fixing it, we'll definitely see things balance itself out. right now it's overpowering because Materia can continue to grow, whereas dropped gear is still outdated in comparison.

    Look at FFXI -- overtime the gap between crafted - augmented - dropped - upgraded gear closed and balanced around outdating older stuff (finally), but before they went the outdate route, everything had it's place because they created 3 categories:

    -Sought After
    -Side Grades
    -Alternatives.

    XIV has only Materia and Side-Grades currently.
