I’m pretty sure they said it was for their senior seminar. The senior seminars at my university require one to do a research project. So, in that context, it makes perfect sense.

Edit: The seminars are independent of one’s major. For my university, it’s actually a requirement for graduating.

ahh i see, still it seems off to me. Since they didn't give much detail as to what their seminar is about. outside a title.

When asking players for a survey, interview, and personal info you need to be clear on what its for, and why. Leaving out details comes off like a scam. Which does happen in online game/ irl.

no one really being paranoid, the class he/she is doing this for don't match the subject matter. Why would an english class need to know if ppl buy fantasias or not? isn't that more for economics?

Could be about how you see your character's identity? Personally I would feel strange changing my character into something else - she's a defined character with a specific name and appearance, and it wouldn't be right for that name to still be attached to a 'different' character - but other people are happy to change back and forth.

It sounds like it might be an interesting topic, but I won't be participating in the survey because of the requests for email address and other information being required fields.
