    Rough Concept Blue Mage

    Blue Mage rough concept for FFXIV

    Main weapon: Chakram

    off hand: N/A

    Role: Mid-ranged CASTER DPS

    Lore: These mages spend vast amount of time in the wilderness, studying monsters, eventually learning to attune their aether to theirs, they believe the are channelers of the beast's spirit acting as empty vessels to hold their great power, and there for are considered to be highly spiritual warriors. They have learned to channel aether into their chakrams to open small portals to the spirit world through with they can release the power of their enemies on who ever they face.

    Abilities of note:
    Gate of Beasts: Allows the Use of High Damaging spells
    Gate of Saints: Allows the Use of moderate damaging spells, increased healing spells, and raising
    Gate of Warriors: Allows the use of weapon skills
    *There are spells that can be used with mutiple stances, but most spells/skills will require a certain stance, and each Gate stance will change hotbars
    *All Gates share recast time of 75 seconds

    Spells/Weapon Skills of note:
    Honey: Healing spell - can be used in all three gates, 25% increase to potency if used in Gate of Saints
    Charged Whisker - Can be used only in Gate of Beasts, a large aoe of light (circle aoe)
    Goblin rush - Can only be used in Gate of Warriors, a 5 fold weapons kill
    Soul Summon - Spell to revive a party member, can only be used in Gate of Saints

    Traits of note:
    Spirit Attunement: Allows player to learn Blue Magic level 1 - 15
    Spirit Attunement II: Allow player to learn Blue Magic level 16 -30

    By being able to switch stances and hotbars (con: have to set up multiple hotbars for this one job), this would allow BLU to have a multitude of spell to learn like in previous games, but still allow the player to keep combos simple and not have an overwhelming number of abilities to have on their hotbars. I would like BLU to use a chakram because it's a weapon not all ready used, and plus it could be used like Axel's chakaram's in kingdom hearts.

    I did have another idea on how to possibly make BLU work in this game. Instead of it sharing role actions with other caster dps maybe blu could be it's own "role" and instead of unlocking traditional role actions by leveling up BLU's role actions are it's learned spells from enemies, and BLU gets traits to allow it to use more role actions than other jobs. This way it all most kind of parallels the point system in FFXI but with role actions instead, this may make it so you fill up all your hotbars but I would be willing to work with that for BLU

    I also realize this would be kind of a deviation from normal standards of the game, but hey we have Archanist splitting into SMN and SCH and it being the only class to do so, so there are exceptions made at times lol

    If it breaks the mold, to open us up to something actually new and reduce the expectation of the mediocre and mundane... all the more power to it, imo.
