I would like instanced but ONLY if its optional because the rp community makes use of community features a lot and I would hate to see that gone.

Hai! I'm Vahl, in ur mmorpgs, sort'n my inventory and putt'n 2 many H's in my name since FFXI..FFXIV Inventory Tetris Champ
You've been here for over three years, it seems. You've not had an opportunity at a house yet?
Because I've been here three months and I beat the rush on Mateus to get my Shirogane house. I don't understand how a player with 1/12th of the experience got what you can't seem to get.
Because this housing system is based on luck. Are you lucky enough to beat the 1,000 player queue the day housing is released? Are you lucky to load in fast enough/sprint fast enough to the plot you want? Are you lucky enough to have the day off of school/work the morning new housing goes live?
When Shirogane released, a bunch of players got hit with 5606 and 2002 lobby errors, and then were thrown into a 1,000+ player queue. Considering there were only 720 new houses added per server, they had no chance of getting a house at that point. It has nothing to do with time played. I've played 2 years, and I was hit with 2 lobby server errors trying to log in, and stuck in a 1,600 player queue. Another friend of mine has been playing for 3 years; same thing. Another one since ARR launch, and was lucky to be number 235 in queue.
In XIV, experience and time played means nothing when getting a house.

Luck is a trainable skill. The ability to recognize opportunity + the ability to make use of opportunities recognized = luck. Sounds like you don't have as fast of a connection. Did you consider coordinating with a friend who has a faster connection?
What did you do to prepare for this contest? You HAVE participated in a land rush, yes?
Luck is not a trainable skill. Luck is circumstances beyond one's control benefitting one. The key is circumstances are out of your control.
Can one turn unfortunate events to their advantage? Yes. But what happened on 4.1 is not something that could have been planned for or worked around without circumstances beyond one's control benefitting them.
Did you just straight up say that people that got lobby errors simply did not train their luck skill enough?
I just hope they work on expandable apartments. Though if SE really wants housing to some some exclusive features they really should up the price on plots, and make upkeep of a house more taxing on the owner / owners.
I mean upkeep on prime real estate in such a tight knit community could not be cheap, must have a lot of amenities to maintain. I mean water bill alone on some these places must be insane.

Luck is DEFINITELY a trainable skill. And I don't know about you, but I definitely planned for it. I was up an hour before the servers went live so as to ensure installation of the patch went properly. (It didn't. The launcher borked. Was I "lucky" to be up with enough time to fix it? No. I planned for it.) I even did research into which number was least likely to be selected out of the given range of wards. Sure enough, Ward 8 was one of the last to sell out. So that was my target.
As far as the queue goes, I was trying to log in about 10 minutes before it was even time. I knew everyone else would be trying too. Luck? Nope. Experience.
I wasn't able to control EVERY aspect of the experience. But I was definitely in control of the ones that could be controlled.
If they knew they had a slow connection, then I'd say they were simply ignorant of reality. Which, to be honest, is kind of worse. I mean, it's one thing to be unaware that one can train luck, but it's another entirely to not even be aware of one's own connection strength. I mean, that's on the user right there. If I had a weak connection, I'd have coordinated with someone who had a stronger one. There were a few people in my FC who scored.
But I do agree with you that some form of tax needs to be levied on homeownership - if for no other reason than providing a more realistic experience.

Do you know what a 5606 or 2002 Lobby Server Error is? That is an error one receives when they are unable to connect to the game’s data center due to interruptions in the connection. Do you know what the errors 90006 and 90002 mean? They are when a player disconnects from the game’s server, even when one’s own internet is functioning normally with regards to any and all other activities. Sometimes 90k errors are caused on the end of the player if their internet connection dies—but lobby server errors are usually always on the server’s side.
Can you please educate me in how I can prevent such errors from occurring, when I am using a wired connection, have my settings turned to low for faster load times, and have suspended any and all unnecessary network activities so as to free up as much bandwidth as possible—so much so that I had taken my other electronics off of my connection so there wouldn’t be any unnecessary interference? Also, feel free to share your vast knowledge on how to fix these errors, which are completely out of the user’s control with the thousands of other players that got hit with the same exact errors at the same exact time. I, like you, was also ready and attempting to log in the minute 3am PST hit. I was actually up all night; I was downloading the patch the minute it became available, so, compared to you, I was even more prepared. By you logic, I should have had more luck with more preparation. But that’s not the case, because that is not how luck works.
The server instability that occurred when Patch 4.1 was something that the developers and Yoshida himself directly acknowledged and apologized for, and it had nothing to do with the players’ individual connections—they also performed maintenance 2 days later to address the issues, though it was too little too late. I’m guessing you weren’t around on Reddit or the OF at that time, because there were threads after threads of players experiencing errors just trying to download the game patch; even more when it came to actually trying to get into the game.
I’m sorry, but could you sound any more pretentious and presumptuous?

Just wondering, don't you find it silly that someone has to go that far for the 'chance' to get something that is listed in the product description under features on amazon?
Also, I had a FC mate that did everything you did, but his power went out while he was in the sub 1000 queue. How should he have prepared for that? I am sorry man I get why you are defending the system instance housing would cause a major blow to the community feel that wards currently provide, but something should be done.
That is why I hope they work on expandable apartments as soon as possible, that way you guys will be able to keep you wards, while still providing something for others.
