Talk to the DDoSers, man. SE's already done all it can. Now it's up to ISPs being on top of their game, and a few little jackwads accepting that they're not better than everyone else and have to pay what everyone else pays.
When that happens, it'll be over with (until the next time some child throws a fit over something happening in a video game, then it'll come back because we're humans and we suck).
DDoS has been so bad this week that I'm not going to cap tomes. Alliance raid, disconnect, trials, disconnect, expert mode, disconnect.
Watering my friggin' plants in front of my house in a residential district. Disconnect.
I've played for four years with no lapse in subscription, and I really really think Squeenix needs to offer a one week credit to all players. This is the worst I've ever seen this game and I've given up trying. I just don't want to play it any more.
Uh...........wut.We're getting DDoSed in NA because there are certain users in certain parts of the world that will soon be asked to pay what everyone else is paying for the game instead of getting a special discount. This happened before, and the timeframe for implementation of the new pricing structure was moved back to 11/14/17. These individuals are hoping they can get that timeframe pushed back again, or removed altogether, because they believe they're better than the rest of the world and don't have to pay what we have to pay to play.
The solution is to ignore this and to keep playing. This isn't SE's fault; they've done what they can to mitigate it. The rest is up to the various ISPs that make up the global internet infrastructure. They'll catch up. Our situation will improve. And, most importantly, terrorism will not win.
Just keep playing.
Anyways, regarding the latency... really hope the attacks stop soon so I can play without lagging out during raid or something. >.>

In response to OP, I'm also UK based but on the NA data centre. For most of the week the game was pretty unplayable and things like duties or even going to instanced areas was a nightmare. Although probably since early Friday morning, the game seemed to be back to normal - well for myself at least so I see that as an improvement. I know a few other players are still suffering issues but it looks like the worst of it is over, so hang in there.
Oh that is why I keep getting unplayable lag then![]()
I having the 90001 90002 error issue every 20 to 40 mins of access.
Is this might be this issue?

I've been getting 90k errors frequently in the past couple days after it hasn't happened for a several day period. There HAS to be something bigger in the picture as far as DDOSing goes.
I play on Gaia Data Center(JP) from NA and I've been constantly getting huge packet loss, then sometimes 90K disconnect as well. I never had packet loss problems before. This has happened for the past 4 days now. VPN has not helped at all too.
Also, Lodestone and this forum takes longer time to load than usual.

So uh, I don't want to be a jerk, but that's not how things work. From what i read it's hard to get around some of these DDOS attacks. My idea is why not only have a login server to the internet. Once you log in and your account it is verified then it checks your IP address which is not a hard process. Then it attaches you to the server after that and only allows your IP address that was verified. Wouldn't matter if your IP address ever changed because the login server would check your IP the next time you logged into it again. This way only the logging server could be effected by the DDOS attacks and if it takes a minute or two longer to Log in who cares as long as it doesn't effect the game. Login server could have QOS so DDOS attacks couldn't take all the bandwidth.
1) Range ban whole blocks, catching innocents, neutrals, and aggressors all in one go
2) Eventually have to range ban most of your incoming traffic because the nature of DDoS attacks means that the pool of addresses the devices are bombarding you from changes after certain intervals - attackers win gg no re
3) Individually approving "clean" addresses is costly, time-consuming, and would bog down the lobby servers worse than any external attacks could. If you though trying to log in on the day SB launched was bad... things like time taken to inspect and connect have a way of ballooning out of control once you're talking about the kinds of numbers that XIV deals with on a daily basis.
And for the record, it's not the log-in servers that are being attacked. From what I've seen it's not even a campaign directly targeted at SE. ISPs and back bone connections like Level3 have been bombarded, degrading service for ANYONE who's trying to use their connections. It really is out of SE's hands on this- all they can do is yell at the ISPs to route players around the troubled nodes, who historically don't give a hoot about service quality unless you're worth billions and can afford to bring lawsuits against them. Which they'll settle with no admission of wrong-doing and no promises to do better anyway. :P
Anecdotally, my connection was awful during prime-time last week but it seems to be doing better now. Still get rough spots during the popular times but it's improved a lot.
