It doesn't have to be win all type event.
That's not bad (in fact I love the idea that you won't just get ranked 1st, 2nd, 3rd and dished out standard rewards). Although I can't see them recoding HQ% since it's so tied up with gear and such haha. Edit: wait nevermind, they could always have it given out as something similar to those scrolls your squad brings back.

I poked around the thread a bit more, someone mentioned fate ideas (which kinda just sound like the crystals in frontlines lmao). I really liked ThirdChild's idea on the other page, but pessimistic me realizes they're not going to build a whole new game to attached to the old bits.

Yours sounds more like what they will probably do, but I guess my point is... well sadly people don't join ff14 for our riveting pvp. And we won't likely get more newbies, because it's still side content. I do think they need more dynamic content for the minority that loves pvp (as lots of people like to complain - look at how much effort they put into high end raids that only 5% or less of players will bother to attempt), but it's gotta be content (content, not the rewards/bribes) that will keep PVPers interested and involved because the chances of PVEers wanting to do it is pretty slim.

Being able to kill each other won't be good enough in the long run, and placing non-pvp related content in there seems unfair to just try and get pve players into it for slaughter. Frontlines has point objectives with crystals and killing each other. The others fill people's competitive streak. Admittedly I haven't read the whole thread, so maybe someone mentioned a legit and interesting idea.

Summary: I am interested in the theoretical concept proposed. I don't see anything that makes me think it can become relevant content.
Let there be no mistake that PvP is all about competition. Failure to understand that before stepping in is failure to prepare. And we all know what coming unprepared does.

The reason to go there is self-contained: you go there if you want to PvP. The idea isn't to attract people uninterested in PvP at all. It's to give PvPers a little more than what little they get. And PvP content, especially a zone that can be entered at any time - free of queues, free of matchmaking complications - would definitely be relevant.

I think the high end raids are less because of statics typically being a requirement to clear. I know me personally I don't have that type of time to set aside. I have plenty of time to play but be here at 6 EST TUE/THURS/SAT doesn't work for me. Plus I am 4 hours behind EST and I can never get home by the time most statics start. So I PvP and the group I run with always varies with people and size.

After being away for almost a year its amazing that the same threads are still at the top of the pvp forum xD Having tried SB pvp for the first time I have to say I think the first thing they should do is go back to the way it was before. As it is now, theres no depth to it and feels more like verminion or triple triad; just more side content. Not that side content is bad but it used to be so much more. At least thats my impression so far.

But anyways, on topic, google "world vs world" if you've never played gw2. I think they could do something like that with the diadem system they had before. Match up servers based on rank, have a zone with like 100 slots per server that players can zone into, stay as long as they like and fight over some objectives that give buffs to their respective servers while held

theres nothing wrong with a pvp zone.....its a mmo. most mmos have pvp zones. If you don't wana pvp or get pked, don't go into the pvp zone.....stick with ur casual pve content.

Spoken like someone who hasn't done an iota of any remotely challenging PvE content in any MMO.

I can see why people enjoy PvP, but I really do, but posts like this are definitely not helping the case to incentivize PvP to primarily PvE players.

And you're taking off 3 letters. MMORPG. Which means primarily questing, PvE content. PvP being optional.

Heck, even WoW's PVP was initially an afterthought.

Salt aside, I still wouldn't be opposed to a concept like this, to appeal to both sides of the playerbase, as long as it doesn't detract from the quality of either.

^ that's the issue us pvpers have. We don't want to "incentivize" you "PvE players" I could care less about "PvE players". Fact is, theres "PvP players" out there who want "PvP content" in a "MMORPG"

    MMORPG
    noun
    noun: MMORPG; plural noun: MMORPGs
an online role-playing video game in which a very large number of people participate simultaneously.

(Large number of people participating simultaneously) you know...human and human interaction.....not human and robot interaction.... i'd much rather interact and play against players than robots. Maybe that's why half the ffxiv population left 4 months after stormblood. PvE content gets boring after awhile.
