Open world PvP Zone

My apologies, I'm coming from the stand point that this will bring new ideas to the table and give us all something new to play with. OP and the others are trying to be constructive here so let me just ask outright to those against it to explain their points in detail. Why are you all so attached to the idea that open world pvp is bullying? is elitism? is something that a majority of the players in this game do not want?

From experience, Guild wars 2 world vs world was something I was quite fond of and if we can replicate that to a degree here then it would be interesting. There are games that do open world pvp badly but if those are bad examples, couldn't FF14 just use those as stepping stones to come up with something better? And at the end of the day we're just giving ideas here.

Just give a specific pvp server and everyone will be happy, don't want to pvp then don't join it~ Or you can add a pvp toggle, you can't be attacked by other players unless you go into pvp mode. I wish more would think about that instead of the worst case scenario of being forced to pvp.

It isn’t “bashing” an idea to say that we don’t want the toxic players from other games coming here. In every game I have ever played that allowed some form of open world PVP, it was misused to troll and get revenge on people for petty things. Hell, In Black Desert all I was doing was riding my horse to my farming house and some jerk knocked me right off and tried to kill me and a bunch of other players right outside a main city. Camping the main roads.

And if you add fates and Beast Tribe quests to a PVP-only zone, it leaves those who love the storyline out of another part of the story. If you hate PVP and the behavior it brings out of people, like me, it is a whole zone I’ll never get to explore or be part of the story in. Cause everytime I try to participate in PVP and just have fun, like in ESO, it enda with me being harassed in whispers and stuff all because I patted them after they died >.<

I get that Kisagami, that's why maybe you can toggle it off for a limited time, or also have the beast tribes allow PvE options, as long as those who like to PvP have the option to do it in the zone. I just wished we had more open zones as is, I wish diadem was a open zone already, it's a wasted zone right now since no one does it. Even if there is nothing to do there, I'd like to just hang there if possible. I don't think one pvp zone would suddenly bring toxic players from other PvP games to FFXIV.

But spawn camping, I get how that can be unfun for people. If we had a zone, I wish that SE would come up with something that could prevent that from players who doesn't want it as well. Patting someone after they died is kind of bad mannering though x) It's kind of like taunting people.

Anyway, I don't think a special zone for it would hurt the game. I always welcome variety. I don't raid much, but I'm glad we have Ultimate. I don't craft much, but I wish we had something more for crafters to do, or a zone with cool gathering mechanics. I just really like the PvP in this game, both the old and new one, and hope that we could have some more than just FL and Feast. Rival Wings, being this whole new thing, is a step in the right direction. It looks really fun. But in the end, I still have to queue for it. I wish I could just go to a zone and PvP there and get some Wolf Marks or whatever while I wait for queues to pop, a place where I can hang and PvP that is not the dueling circle in the Wolves Den.

It's a great idea, I doubt it's feasible tho. Open world PvP would outshined any form of objective pvp if it's free-form.
In other words, the duty finder would find less and less people. Unless they scrap to replace it, but then it would be server-based instead of datacenter-based.
We have to wait for cross-server open world first, maybe.

They'll think of something. They can pass it off as sparring/training ground. The lore for Frontlines isn't exactly the best one in the game anyways xD

Oh that's an easy one:

Eorzea is a realm rebuilding after a calamity. It'd be easy to think some have it harder than others. Bandits, pirates, poachers, thieves, refugees, they all exist, and all would want to continue living/surviving day to day by any means. Ishgard? Heretics, and zealots among both the House of Lords/Commons. Northern territories? Various tribes, villages, and the usual bandits, thieves, etc. And clearly Ala Mihgo isn't terribly unified on many levels. They had a coup d'etat just before the Garleans occupied them.

Othard has the Confederacy, and the newly liberated Doman populace, Kugane, as a port town would be just as succeptable to piracy, refugees, and thieves as much as say, Limsa would. And the Azim Steppe has all the warring Xaela tribes.

Hydaelyn is anything but a perfect world where everyone gets along.
